Quite sad, I enjoyed him in Terminator and recently the City Confidential show.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I remember him from "The Charmings" and "Wiseguy". (Ironically, he had a bet in Wiseguy over who would die first, him or Tim Curry -- Curry won and danced on Winfield's grave.)

Paul Winfield is also related to former Yankee Dave Winfield, IIRC.

Yes, he was a fine actor. I recently saw his episode "Darmok" of Star Trek the Next Generation, from the late eighties. He did a marvelous job of acting, despite rather cumbersome alien makeup. I also became a fan of City Confidential on A&E, because of his excellent narration. He will be missed.

Too Bad. He was a very good actor. Turned in an outstanding performance a few years back in the movie "Sounder".

I loved that guy in his various Star Trek (and other sci-fi) roles. A good actor for sure. Seemed like a nice guy.

I remember that Star Trek: Next Generation episode very well. Winfield also had a part in one of the Star Trek movies but don't remember which one. Another great actor passes away.

And I still insist that he should have won an Emmy for that TNG role. He was truly able to make you understand the feelings of Captain Dathon, even though he was limited to the exclusive use of metaphors...

His voice made "City Confidential" almost unwatchable. He talked with a pronounced slur almost like a stroke victim. A case of selection of a big name rather than for performance.
