Plan to disguise female bomber as Israeli ambulance volunteer foiled

The General Security Service (GSS) has recently foiled a triple suicide bombing planned by the military wing of the mainstream Palestinian Fatah movement. The plot featured a female suicide bomber that was to dress up as a volunteer of Magen David Adom (MDA, Israel's emergency medical service).

The plan was thwarted after the would-be female bomber gave herself up to security forces. She revealed that two other members of her cell in Nablus were planning to board a bus in central Israel and blow themselves up. The female would-be bomber was instructed to wait, dressed in a MDA uniform, for the arrival of rescue forces and set off her explosive belt among them.

The other cell members were also detained following her arrest. The female terrorist was indicted this week and is expected to face trial soon.

Yesterday (Monday), Hamas claimed, for the first time, responsibility for the terror attack at Tel Aviv's "Mike's Place" pub on April 30, 2003. A leaflet issued by the group's military wing, the Iz-a-Din al-Kassam Brigades, noted that the attack was carried out by two British citizens of Pakistani origin.

Later, the Hamas released a videotape featuring Omar Khan Sharif and Assif Hanif, the two British citizens who carried out the bombing. "The real terrorists are the Israelis", say the bombers on the videotape. "All Zionists, men and women, are soldiers. There are no civilians among them and killing Jews is an honor".

They're really evil. Just when you think the Palestinians have reached a new low in human depravity, along comes a story like this to tell us they will stoop at nothing to kill Jews. I have to hear a word of reproach for them from Eurotrash representative Javier Solana, who tirelessly lectures Israel about ending the cycle of violence and getting back to negotiations. Well how about wiping out terrorists instead of negotiating with them? That would do more to secure peace in the Middle East than all the years of talks with the terror masters who hide behind the smokescreen called the Palestinian Authority. Its too bad the Israeli government is too cowardly to dismantle it and put it out of business once and for all.

Just when you thought the Pallies could not get any more depraved, they surprise you! They'll be strapping explosives to children and sending them into Kindergartens before this is over.

The Palestinians have been absolutely ruthless about violating the Geneva Conventions as regards ambulances and the use of the Red Cross emblems. The Arabs have fired on the Israel Red Magen David ambulances and their personnel (they caused an Israeli soldier to bleed to death a few years back, this way, by a barrage of gunfire at the ambulance trying to pick him up), while PA Red Cross vehicles have ferried guns, ammunition, armed gunmen, etc.

At the same time, the International Red Cross committee, which is run by the Swiss, has adamantly refused to accord the Red Magen David the same recognition it gives the Red Cross and the Red Crescent ... using very lame (and sometimes clearly false) excuses ... and sometimes accompanying this refusal with blatant insults (e.g., one IRC chairman, some years ago, said that if he had to recognize the Red Star of David then he'd immediately give equal recognition to the emblem of the Red Swastika -- which nobody had asked for). As the while, of course, the IRC has been completely inert about doing its job of visiting and protecting Israeli soldiers captured by Arab countries.

My suggestion was that Israel quite bluntly give the Arabs a taste of their own poison: Israeli troops will not recognize the Red Cross nor Red Crescent emblems, the only protected emblem will be the Red Star of David and if sick or injured Arabs want to be taken to hospitals then they had better not interfere with the Red Magen David because the Red Magen David is gonna be the only ambulance able to take them to medical care.

Works for me. My only quibble with your point is that the Pallie ambulances are Red Crescent, not Red Cross. Not that the Red Cross is any great shakes in my book. One hopes that they would draw the line at ferrying weapons, however.
