Despite denials that the Kerry campaign criticized the Bush ads, the Kerry camp did reach out family members of people killed on 9/11 whom they knew were supporters of Kerry and asked if they'd be willing to denounce the ads publicly. Those people were given the names of assignment editors at cable news channels and network news outlets, as well as talking points for them to use if they were interviewed.

Too bad the claim is made without any quotes or attributions, it might be capable of growing a few more legs if there were any demonstrable facts represented. There aren't.

here's a portion of that article that seems like a big
potential issue, and I had not heard before....
ROOM SERVICE
The Service Employees International Union in New York has senior union leaders looking for ways to complicate the Republican National Convention in New York later this summer. SEIU members work in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and other establishments, and are one of the largest unions in Manhattan. There are no contracts expiring for the SEIU in New York this year, but that hasn't stopped the union, which has already committed more than $30 million to prevent the re-election of President Bush, from looking for ways to embarrass the Republican Party and make its stay in New York unpleasant.
"Maybe some hotels make the mistake of unfair work conditions, and the union has to pull out and strike city wide for a couple of days to protest their brothers and sisters being treated unfairly," says a member of another AFL-CIO union. "It can happen, and we are already hearing the talk. These folks will do anything to ruin the convention. It's one convention they did not want to come to New York."
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
So...... this UNION is planning to SABOTAGE the Republican
Convention in New York!!!

I think Kerry is just trying to make it look like he had no interest in the attack on Bush when he is the originator. I don't think for a minute that Kerry and the DNC are at odds. Its all part of their overall plan. They have been courting there far left base for so long to get money that now they have to bactrack in an effort to get indepenents and regular dems back.

I've noticed that FOX News in gerneral is not on top and well informed about the subjects they interview about. Perhaps you missed FOX News this morning when they played a good portion of the Kerry "atrocity" testimony audio tape. I got in on it late and didn't get the name of the guy that they were interviewing but he didn't have much good to say about Kerry.
Now that FNC has the tape, I suspect we will hear more of it from them.

I believe it was established that McAwful was in back of the contact of Turnipseed - which supposedly started the whole mess.

I agree with you. The Kerry group would not have said a thing if this had remained hidden.
Just think .. even 5 years ago - this might never have been exposed.
And .. for those of you not watching Fox at the moment - Fox is airing the congressional testimony of Kerry spewing his accusations at our military.
And .. on Fox tonite - Hannity does an interview with Colin Powell - answering the charges against the President and the admin.

We just have to keep hammering them. I have sent them msg after msg telling them what the info is and sending them link after link to the stories.
However, when I have done this before (and I'm sure many others are doing the same), finally Fox comes out with an indepth story on the issue.
Let's not shoot Fox in the foot for getting a lot of things right just because we wish they would move faster. The fact that they don't move as fast as the others usually means they really do the investigative reporting we all want.

The International Association of Firefighters endorsed Kerry over Gephardt when he was running. This is the union we are talking about NOT individuals. About 44 percent of the 240,000 U.S. members the union claims are registered Republicans, 37 percent are Democrats and the rest are independents, union President Harold Schaitberger said.

Susan Estrich is the one who said on TV that the Boston papers have been sitting on dirt about Kerry for years; and she said it WAS going to come out.
Of course, she said that BEFORE he won the nomination.
