JACKSON, Miss. -- During a campaign swing through Mississippi yesterday, Senator John F. Kerry excoriated President Bush from the lectern of a black church, insisted that New England has much in common with the Deep South, and decried the "crucifixion" of the young gay man Matthew Shepard as he compared civil rights for blacks to gay and lesbian rights.

Show 'em my motto!
....Following Byrd's death, there was a clamor in 1999 to toughen Texas hate-crimes law. The debate grew rancorous as some lawmakers sought to extend hate-crimes protections to homosexuals. Saying ''all crime is hate crime,'' Bush declined to intervene. The bill died. ***Source
***On Fridays World News Tonight, ABCs Aaron Brown admitted that on the "Daisy II" ad: "Weve been able to confirm only four stations that have actually run the ad at a cost of about a thousand dollars. Nevertheless, the ad has received extraordinary attention." Attention the networks decided to give it while continuing to ignore the ad produced by the NAACP, a group closely aligned with the DNC, which features James Byrds daughter claiming of Bushs opposition to a hate crimes bill: "It was like my father was killed all over again."***Media Research Center

*** I'm just so tired of being black in that way, that way which can only understand itself as the people who are oppressed by white people. The people who condone murder as long as it annoys whites. The people whose morality is situation specific if there's a way to get back at whites by forgetting our home training.
.So, combining old fashioned virtue for its own sake with Post-Movement opportunity was my recipe for success. So many poor blacks are missing the first component, they can't make use of the second.
. Why keep reliving your worst nightmare over and over again? They're still focused on the obstacles, not the opportunities because they 're still focused on making white people 'fess up and apologize. They act as if its still 1954 instead of 2004. They're old dogs who can't learn new tricks, even the young ones who hew to old school racial discontent.
Also, we have to learn to believe in our own efforts again. We have to act as though we truly believe we don't need anyone to ride to our rescue.
. Reading the newspapers while trying to move beyond the tropes of a stultified racial discourse, was maddening. Even as I was trying to abandon my post in black America's war with white America, I was constantly being brought up short by thinly veiled racism and just plain bs all around me. ***
Homosexuality is not a race or sex it is an condition and an abnormal one at that.
Exactly. It is an act. I wonder if John Kerry would appreciate it if people associated his children or mother with anal sex.
