Rep. Flake is a conservative Republican on just about every other issue except for illegal immigration and amnesty. He needs to get a clue and change his mind on this. He's looking at a primary challenger who is coming after him on this one, specific issue. He's gaining many enemies within the party for his stance.

Our immigration laws are not convoluted, as Flake would have us believe. State, local police and sheriff's offices purposely avoid involvement in immigration law enforcement, citing federal jurisdiction as their excuse.

From what I have seen, the LEO's have been ORDERED by the feds to avoid contact with the illegal aliens. Makes you wonder who is pulling the feds strings.

Where the hell is GWB on this? I can't believe he eliminated the fingerprinting and photographing at the Mexican border. How are these people protecting America from Terrorists? They are just asking for another 9/11. Someone is going to sneak a dirty bomb over and detonate it Houston.

We need to build a wall. Anything less puts America at risk.

Flake makes the sweeping statement in his Jan. 18 column that America has a need for labor that Americans are unable or unwilling to do. There is little evidence to support this statement. One of the primary purposes of our immigration laws is to prevent employers from undermining wages and working conditions of American workers.

A so-called electronic job registry proposed by the president would not even have a prevailing wage requirement, meaning that employers will be able to offer wages far below what most Americans would be willing to accept, thereby creating an artificial need for guest workers. In effect, the law would grant legal sanction to employers who want to hire workers at low wages and benefits.

Free market bump.

The reality is the Dems and Reps are kissing Axx for VOTES, now or in the future. It isa and has been that the politicians represent their pocket, not ours. Vote em all out. If Kerry has Hitlary for VP, I'll vote for Bush, other wise he gets what he gave America on illegal immigration.

Bush offers migrant plan conservatives can support advertisement

Rep. Jeff Flake Jan. 18, 2004 12:00 AM

President Bush's immigration initiative has sparked a great deal of discussion . . . .

Interesting. Every time they go back to the original January "proposal."

Anyone want to bet the January "proposal" gets backed up with a "directive" to get it "passed?"

Here is a tidbit that will give you that secure warm fuzzy feeling...

Study after study conducted by reputable research institutes such as the National Academy of Sciences, the Rand Institute, the National Research Council and the U.S. Council of Economic Advisors reveal the negative impact of such programs on U.S. workers. Government research suggests that 50 percent of wage loss among low-skilled Americans is due to the immigration of low-skilled workers.

Nice to know that GW reads the advice of what we the TAXPAYERS have already footed the bill on but is also looking out for not only your future but the future of your children as well, eh?

"Obviously, there is a disconnect between our political leaders at all levels of government and the people of this great nation."

There is NO disconnect.
The pols know we want the immegration laws enforced.
They know we don't want illegals, guest worker programs, or amnesty.

They don't believe anyone will stop them from doing what they want to do.

A short history of teaching math in America

Teaching Math in 1950:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?

Teaching Math in 1960:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

Teaching Math in 1970:

A logger exchanges a set "L" of lumber for a set "M" of money. The cardinality of set "M" is 100. Each element is worth one dollar. Make 100 dots representing the elements of the set "M." The set "C", the cost of production contains 20 fewer points than set "M." Represent the set "C" as a subset of set "M" and answer the following question: What is the cardinality of the set "P" of profits?

Teaching Math in 1980:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math in 1990:

By cutting down beautiful forest trees, the logger makes $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? What's wrong about it? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the forest birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down the trees? (There are no wrong answers.)

Teaching Math in 2000:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $120. How does Arthur Andersen determine that his profit margin is $60? And how many documents were shredded to achieve this number?

Teaching Math in 2010:

El Loggero se habla with the truckero y se ponen de acuerdo con otro driver de la competencia y etc...
