Don't let Dems skate on 'Memogate'

Sen. Chuck Schumer has called for a criminal investigation of Republican Senate staffers who obtained incendiary Democrat computer memos from a shared Judiciary Committee file server and leaked them to the media. "A few of us believe that the only way to get to the bottom of this is for a special counsel to be appointed," the New York Democrat said.

"Some of the memos suggest the usual tawdry Democrat collusion with the usual left-wing suspects to derail President Bush's judicial nominations. Among them, the cleverly named People for the American Way.

But some of the memos suggest criminal activity -- felony criminal activity."

Why aren't the Republicans talking about this on all the talk shows?

"Why aren't the Republicans talking about this on all the talk shows?"

It is being handled by the jellyfish Hatch. A pitiful example of an emasculated man.

Thank God for Miranda! The Pubs ought to be exposing Dirtbag Durbin and the marxist Shumer all over the airwaves as enemies of the Constitution.

Gosh, I wish the Pubs would get some gonads.

blessings, Bobo

Jean -- you deserve credit for this, because you have been posting the great editorials from the Pittsburgh Tribune. It's been a while, I wasn't sure whether you were going to post this one too, so I posted it.

Then I noticed, that your post of this article showed up literally one second after mine.

I immediately sent a note to the Admin Moderator, explaining that you deserve the credit, and to please pull mine, then both disappeared, then mine reappeared.

Anyway -- everyone, the credit goes to JeanS. Mine should have been the duplicate, which was pulled.

I am glad you didn't take offense.

I was not trying to compete with you. But, as I said in my other posts, seeing you post these great editorials from PTR, made me go and put it on my regular news source list, and went and browsed it tonight.

I looked to see if you had posted that article and wasn't sure whether you will or not, so I thought I'll post it, so someone gets it out there, because it was another good one.

I checked to see again, before I hit send, didn't see it, then I posted it, the rest you know.

LOL, no offense taken of course. I especially like Dateline D.C.'s Sunday column. It's never posted on their main editorial page, you have to click on the name in the sidebar.
He's written some great pieces on Hillary.

Because the rats had access to the GOP files as well.
There must be things in some of them that Hatch doesn't want made public.
I sincerely hope Manny Miranda "brings it on", and exposes
ALL of the corruption in this committee, on either side of the aisle.
The place desperately needs a thorough disinfecting.

Hatch is a pathetic excuse for a Republican, a Senator and a man.

Don't know - but I DO know something's going on w/ Ted Kennedy, just by the sight of him. FOX ran news of him stating, "this is burglary, thievery..." And the look on his face was plain scared. Almost like he was testifying against himself. Anyway, content of the memos NEEDS to get out - even if there's Republican "trash" mixed in.

Memogate doesn't get the Republicans anything. IF there is any gain, Bush will tie it to Kerry as part of corrupt Dems when it means the most, maybe the week before the election.

Great article - I will be sending it to Hatch and Frist in case they don't read this paper. Also will send to the WH. We need to keep the pressure on this issue and not allow the spineless GOP to wimp out.

ok, enough of the touchy-feely lovefest, we can clearly see the mutual respect between you. ENOUGH already!

(tongue-in-cheek mode switched off)

Seriously, excellent work, folks - people like you are what make me glad I'm a freeper.

Lack of a fire wall in a computer system set up by Senate Democrats enabled Republican staffers -- with a click of a mouse on a shared-server network -- to gain access to more than 4,000 internal Democrat memos. There was no hacking, an investigation has confirmed.

According to what I have seen about the technical aspects of the computer system for that committee, the lack of a firewall, as it is known in computer terms, is not the problem.

The problem is that the architecture of the system was intended to be open, so that any file on the system could be accessed by anyone with access to the system. However, it was used by many (if not all) of the participants as if a security scheme was in place, which wasn't the case. So the Democrats' complaints are analagous to me putting files on an Internet server open to anyone with a browser, then complaining that someone actually did access my open server with its unprotected files.
