Fan of Incubus? Well then you'd better understand the band's hateful anti-Bush message

Lyrics to Incubus' newest hit Megalomaniac
And in case you have any doubts as to who the song is about, the video has shots of GWB in it.
From the album "A Crow Left Of The Murder"
I hear you on the radio
You permeate my screen
Its' unkind, but if I met you in a scissor fight
I'd cut off both your wings on principle alone
On principle alone
Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down
If I were your appendages
I'd hold open your eyes
So you would see
That all of us are heaven sent
There was never meant to be only one
To be only one
Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down
Yeah
You're no Jesus
You're not Elvis
...
You're no answer
Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down

There are plenty of MUCH better bands to spend your time and money on. Pinback, Starflyer 59, British Sea Power, Broadcast, Grandaddy, Sun Kil Moon, Damien Jurado, m83, Kevin Shields, Menomena, Wrens... and I just picked these up in the last six months.

Anybody who thinks those lyrics are good needs a brain transplant!!
Good grief - have we become so politically correct that we don't recognize CRAP when we hear it! I'm stunned!

Try Mozart, Hayden, or Bach.

I just watched the video because of this thread. I had my 17 yr old son find it for me. From the comments I was expecting to see several images of Bush. There was ONE! One only. Most of the video is inhabited by pictures of Hitler, and several of some distorted-looking angel creatures. The face of "Jesus" is super-imposed on the angel bodies a few times. While I don't find the video worth watching again, I don't think it is necessarily Bush-bashing. I looked at it as bashing the political establishment in general. More of the good vs. evil type of stuff, meaning how the population doesn't want to be taken in by the evil, but somehow we pay attention to what they say anyway. I don't think the song or the video have any real redeeming quality about them, but I also don't see them as bashing Bush. There is only ONE quick clip of him in it. That's not bashing. Granted, it did have Hitler in it, but I didn't see it as comparing Bush to Hitler as much as implying that Hitler was the anti-Christ. FWIW, I love GW, and I abhor the stuff that liberals put out against him.

Nothing new here. In 1987 Phil Collins did some inane music video to "Land of Confusion" featuring Reagan as an evil warmongering puppet. Could never listen to that guy again.

after I saw the video, and before I posted this, I did some looking around. Here's what I found to re-enforce that thought.
http://www.fairfieldmirror.com/news/2004/02/12/ArtsEntertainment/Do.Music.And.Politics.Mix-604298.shtmlDo music and politics mix? By Brynne Formato Published: Thursday, February 12, 2004 When does political expression cross the line between freedom of speech and venture into just plain bad taste? The video for "Megalomaniac," the new single from Incubus' fifth album, "A Crow Left of the Murder" depicts a George Bush look-alike speaking to groups of protestors, turning into a bald eagle and eating his audience, whose human heads have been replaced by fish heads. There are shots of signs reading "Operation Freedom Control (as opposed to Bush's Operation Iraqi Freedom) and "The United States Air Force Presents...Brain Washing." In one scene, a family drinks oil from an oil can, while feeding their baby a bottle full of the same gooey black substance. According to an article by Joe D'Angelo on www.mtv.com, this could be "a symbol of America's thirst for Iraq's greatest export." Periodically throughout the video Brandon Boyd, the lead singer, calls for the Bush look-alike to "step down, step down." The controversial video is on heavy rotation on MTV and MTV2; MTV did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Googling this reveals 100's of College album reviews, where the song's anti-Bush message is featured in 99 percent of the reviews.

I see. I didn't draw the connection about the oil. To me, the guy was not a Bush look-alike, but I guess it can be construed that way. The rest of what you posted is pretty true, but I didn't interpret it that way even after watching it. But I see your point. Thanks.

actually, according to an interview on mtv with the lead singer, Brandon Boyd, the song is actually a reference to the bands bass guitarist who was going to leave the band thinking he'd be more successful going solo.
