Yeah, there's certainly been a rash of synagogues burning in America since The Passion came out....

I am now convinced that they are trying to make Christianity socially unacceptable. They want to make us ashamed of our faith. They won't be happy until we are back in the catacombs.

Dear Eamonn (great name, buddy)
I guess Christians are the only ones that "hate", correct?
When was the last time a Christian blew up a busload of Jews?

For a country in which different denominations of "Christians" are constantly at each others throats, a suggestion to eamon amight be to get his own house in order before preaching to others.

Well, at least this author has an issue with people who follow the teachings of the New Testament.
I wouldn't want to attribute the attitude to a "they" however. Each of us is an individual, and we're better served by dealing with each other as individuals, rather than assuming any individual subscribes to the comments of another person "in the same group."

But let's not allow a satisfying controversy obscure the fact that the founding text of Christianity is bloodily sodden with hatred of Jews.>>>
Yeah, while we're at it, let's see the concentration camps that were built by the Roman Catholic Church this last century at Auschwitz and Dachau where helpless members of the SS were murdered by the faithful.
Let's see the mass execution sites where priests and nuns massacred NKVD policemen in Russia.
Let's see the places where Christian believers rounded up Chinese communist block leaders and committed them to the Laogai.
Let's see the huge numbers of synagogues ablaze this last week as little old ladies from Peoria poured out of movie theatres and masses and committed pogroms.
Let's see this guy shove his anti-Christian bigotry where the sun don't shine.

The New Testament is, among other things, an anti-Semitic tract.
This is where we're headed. The venom spewed against Gibson by Safire, Krauthammer and every writer for the New York Times is directed just as much against the Gospels, even though the writers are careful not to say it explicitly. It is only a matter of degree from what they're doing to Gibson, to demanding that any public recitation of the Gospels be prohibited, and then - that the New Testament be banned as "hate speech". There are efforts along those lines in some parts of Canada already, and a pastor in Scandanavia got into legal trouble for pointing out the Gospels' negative view toward homosexuality.

"The New Testament is, among other things, an anti-Semitic tract. It is the source of the anti-Semitism which has characterised Christianity for two millennia.
If the film isn't anti-Semitic, it's out of line with the Gospel. In face of complaints from US Jewish leaders, Gibson removed from the film's sub-titles - although not from the Aramaic sound-track - the response of the Jews to Pilate's hand-washing disavowal of blame for ...."
Finally someone has the courage to put in print what the real truth about what is bugging these anti-Christians!
Not because it is truth, but because they still hate Christ and what Christ said to their face. Nice little PLOY used agains Christians, might call it a "loyalty test" using Mel and his father.

The basis of Christianity is love. Love of God and love of others.

They won't be happy until we're wiped off of the face of the Earth.

When I say "they" I am referring to individuals like this critic and others who have responded in an over-the-top hysteria about this movie.
I don't think they belong to an anti-Christian club. I just think that there are individuals who are really made angry and frightened by this film, and their response is indicative of their attitude. Yes, they are individuals. However, they all seem to be having the same response.
