Special release from the U.S. Department of Defense

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The Department of Defense announced March 4 that an additional toll-free telephone number has been established for individuals who want to contact or provide information to the Department of Defense Task Force on Care for Victims of Sexual Assault. The number, (800) 497-6261, is staffed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. The department's hot line will supplement those previously established by each of the services.

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld this month ordered a senior-level inquiry into the reported sexual assaults in Iraq and Kuwait, and how the armed services treat victims of sexual assault. The Army and Air Force have opened similar investigations.

Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness David S.C. Chu said that the findings of the 90-day review are due by April 30.

"Every service member deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity," Chu said. "Sexual assault is criminal conduct and will not be tolerated in the Department of Defense."

Chu believes the information from the call center will assist the task force and defense officials in developing policies and programs to improve assistance for victims of assaults and enhance efforts at prevention.

As usual, the DOD is ahead of the game and getting to core of the problem. They don't take polls, spend money on surveys, and consult expert whiners. They see a potential problem, and they go about the task of solving it. The libs like to throw around false accusations of the military being unfair, but the libs need to step back, take a look at how it's done, and learn a lesson.

Unlike the media claims, they do handle all their business in house. Believe me, you don't want to be on the other end of a sexual harrasment claim in today's military.

No kidding. That's why today's men in uniform won't talk to or look at a female soldier or sailor unless they have to. Things are ok if she's ok, but the moment you piss her off about anything (making her stand watch, do her job, clean a passageway), you're 'sexually harrassing' her. Same thing with the race card with younger minorities.

Recently, I had a young punk pseudomuslim ('I don't eat pork, but I like booze and b*tches') accuse me of discriminating against him because of his 'religion'. He had nothing and everyone knew it (he was angry because I had made him take out the trash a week earlier), but the investigation took up a whole day and everyone still has their suspicions about what was said by whom.

The point is that it doesn't matter if the accusation has any basis--the fact that it was made is enough to tar and feather you.

This is an example of what feminism has done to men and the military.

It's obvious to see that you're an overt racist. :) How could you treat this poor muslim this way? How dare you! :) Just kidding!

And yes, you're absolutely right. I didn't dare get into that kind of a situation. No matter what the outcome, you'd be scrutinized either way.
