FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ICDC conducts patrols, TF All American captures terrorists
Baghdad, Iraq -- Iraqi Civil Defense Corps forces conducted 18 independent patrols in the Al Anbar province, and Task Force All American conducted 222 patrols -- including 11 joint patrols with Iraqi security forces-- and cleared four small caches Tuesday and Wednesday.
Task Force All American had nine contacts with the enemy Wednesday -- three direct-fire engagements, two improvised explosive device attacks, one indirect-fire attack, one hand-grenade attack and one surface-to-air engagement involving small-arms fire. Task Force All American soldiers discovered and disarmed four improvised explosive devices before they could be detonated and captured 35 enemy personnel.
Wednesday in 3rd Brigade's area of operations, paratroopers conducted a cordon and search near Nassar Wa Al Salaam to kill or capture Thamer Mohammed Ibrahim and Muhammed Hussein Sulhay, suspected IED emplacers. The operation resulted in the capture of five enemy personnel including both targeted individuals. There were no casualties or damage to coalition equipment.
Paratroopers conducted a simultaneous cordon and search of three objectives in Fallujah Wednesday to kill or capture individuals suspected in the Jan. 8 attack on the medical-evacuation aircraft south of Fallujah and captured one suspect.
Paratroopers conducted Operation Warrior Wednesday. The operation was simultaneous cordon and searches of three objectives in Mahmudiyah. The objectives were to kill or capture Farhan and Sofi Sinjar, Abu Akmed, Abu Farka and other individuals suspected of conducting attacks against coalition forces. The targeted individuals are also suspected of being connected to a larger ring of anticoalition activities. The operation resulted in the capture of 18 enemy personnel including the four targeted individuals, 50 mortar and artillery rounds of various sizes, one land mine, 16 AK-47 rifles, five shotguns and other miscellaneous small arms and ammunition.
Wednesday in downtown Ar Ramadi, there was a peaceful, antiviolence demonstration at the Government Compound. It took place inside the compound, and approximately 40 sheiks and imams attended, as did the governor. The Task Force All American government-support team was present and monitored the event until it ended at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Have you seen any stats on the number of IEDs that detonate versus those discovered? I haven't and was curious as to whether we were getting better at detection. The ratio of discoveries to detonations would be a telling stat on progress.
