If they can't get the money ONE way, they will get it another!

Here in Texas they are building tollroads, and at first I thought it was great, because I-35 is clogged with NAFTA traffic, 18-wheelers, etc. under some poor conditions running through the San Antonio-Austin corridor.
The problem is...apparently the tollroads/tollroad companies/authority have "no-compete" clauses, whereas highways that could potentially take away tollroad drivers cannot expand. I'm still poking around to find info, but somebody was telling me about it and I found it a bit disturbing.

Yeah but you can get off in portland at the mall exit, and go up us 1 and then cut over and three and avoid all the tolls.
I admit it takes a little longer, but since most of the tourists head for MDI, no problem, only adds two hours to the drive.

Next they'll link the toll amount to the retail sticker price of the vehicle...Beemers will pay more than a Kia, etc.....

but you can get off in portland at the mall exit, and go up us 1I strongly encourage everyone to stay on the pike. Do not get off at South Portland. Do not go up 95. Do not get onto route 1, thereby getting in my way when I'm trying to make a ferry...

I don't know whether to question your spelling on your sexual identity.

Avoid the Turnpike altogether. Head for Livermore Falls. We need the money.

Frankly, I would rather help clog up rte 1 than pay an increase in tolls. Maine was once promised that once the system was built, the toll would go away all together. Screw em, I use Rte1!

Tempest in a teapot. Penny-wise and pound-foolish, when 50 cents justifies a 20 minute diversion.

I admit it takes a little longer, but since most of the tourists head for MDI, no problem, only adds two hours to the drive. I remember that. The turnpike is faster. I have known of people taking a motel but have to take the turnpike a couple times a day to get to the beach.

Baldy and the dummycruds will get that money one way or the other. Now they are targeting the tourists. To which I hope the tourists see this and vacation in NH!
I never thought I'd see the day where I would shoo people off from coming to Maine, but it's high time the rest of the U.S. finds out what a crud run state this is!
