Dear Friends,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedicated support of my campaign for U.S. Senate.
Certainly I wish last night's election results were different. But we should be proud of the strong grassroots campaign we waged to champion our views, values and beliefs that underscore our commitment to conservative Republican principles.
Last night I congratulated Bill Jones and offered him my full support in his efforts to defeat our liberal extremist U.S. Senator, Barbara Boxer. You should go to his website, www.JonesForCalifornia.com, and sign up to help defeat Barbara Boxer. Boxer is bad for California, and her extreme liberal policies hurt our state.
While I am disappointed in the results, I am excited about the tremendous success we had in setting the agenda for the election. Every time we jumped on an issue, whether it was illegal immigration, same-sex marriage or a national spending limit, my opponents quickly embraced the ideas as their own - even sometimes when they had taken contradictory positions first.
As Ronald Reagan taught us, ideas have consequences. And, our ideas marched forward as strong as ever. While we did not win the election, our ideas did win a victory. All of the candidates sounded like Howard Kaloogian by the time we got to the end!
At the end of the day, those voters who heard about our campaign for fiscal conservatism, a strong national defense and support for stronger border control and better immigration policies rallied to our campaign. In a state of 35 million people the problem you have to overcome is reaching enough people with your message. You need a lot of exposure on television, over the radio and in the newspapers - and over a long enough period of time - for people to hear your message.
With your help we were able to come a long way. We filed late - in December - and we still managed to shape the debate in this party.
We crystallized opposition to proposals to give drivers license or 'amnesty-on-the-installment plan' to illegal immigrants.
We championed the people's will as expressed by Proposition 22. At first ignored by Attorney General Bill Lockyer, we started a recall effort against him and forced him to finally take action to enforce the laws of this state.
And on the issue of the economy, we led the way with our insistence that spending be cut at the federal level with a federal spending limit.
These victories demonstrate to me that when the public hears them, our conservative Republican principles perform well. We should never abandon them out of a desire for political expediency. The Republican Party must maintain a compass and not lose sight of the fact that we are fighting to advance good and just ideas, not just elected office.
That's why I can look at the Election Returns and be proud that we managed to receive such strong support from those who DID hear our message.
Conservatives in California have woken up to the notion that we must be proud, active and articulate messengers for our principles at all times. We can never give up, even when the establishment tells us we can't win.
We have much more change to fight for.
But for now, let me thank you again for your terrific support and hard work. I'm so very proud to have worked with you and to have stood by your side in the battle of ideas that took place in this campaign.
You have earned my respect for your committed support to our ideas.
Sincerely,
HOWARD KALOOGIAN

Last night was a tough night... alot of the races where I had someone I was rooting for went south :/
Onto the next fight. Recall Lockyer and oust Boxer via Jones.
Humbled and apologetic!
