Cheney: Kerry's Senate Record Is Troubling

Vice President Dick Cheney (search) on Tuesday re-stated assurances he would appear on the ticket with President Bush in November in an interview with Fox News' Brit Hume. He also clarified the campaign's criticisms of Sen. John Kerry (search), emphasizing his respect for the Democratic front-runner's years of service in Vietnam.

We're talking about a whole series of votes over almost two decades, and they without question position him as a man of a certain view. Perfectly legitimate view, I just think it's wrong.

One difference in conservatives and liberals is that conservatives grant that the other side has a legitimate right to a position, then go about debating the position. Liberals deny that the other side has any validity whatsoever, and immediately attack the individual. In his first run, Bush did not attack Gore, saying that "we have a different vision for what the nation should be." As I recall, Gore called Bush a stupid frat-boy evil corporate stooge drunk.

Liberals can never win on their ideas. I find Cheney's approach, like Bush's, far classier and more respectful. The liberals do not deserve such classy adversaries.

There's a remarkable contrast between the actual relative questions being asked by Hume, and every other media outlet redundant browbeating interview I've seen in the past 12 months. It's like night and day.

Cheney is a class act, no doubt about it. Four years ago the lib press said he had 'gravitas'. That's when they were hammering Bush for not having any of what the Brits would call 'bottom'. Today they don't dare use that word in relation to the republican ticket. America might notice that the RAT ticket with Kerry at the top won't have any. And what's with Hill endorsing Kerry today? Do we think she's been offered the vp spot and plans to take it?

The playing field defined as it is, denies Bush-Cheney the ability to attack the ridiculously vulnerable positions of the jaw-droppingly hypocritical and venal Democrats, in defense of their brazenly ludicrous accusations. Their hands are tied.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon all of us, and others, to slash and maim as our opponents do. Politics is a brutal game - and I say, "Bring it on, you 'Rat scum----s!"

Or, then again, we can lose in proper and genteel fashion....

I think Hillary's endorsement of Kerry is the most gutless political move in history. I figure it was her last chance to say she tipped the balance. I was expecting the NY TImes would report that the very day Hillary endorsed Kerry, Edwards resigned and Kerry swept Super Tuesday.

Clintons are bad for jumping in front of a parade and thinking they are leading it.

I can't imagine Kerry picking her as a running mate... nothing would go further to alienate the south and the midwest... but heaven only knows what those people think.
