[history]
It happened at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner of the Allegheny County Republican Party, March 20, 1991, at the William Penn Hotel.
At the time the first George Bush was still flush with victory in the Persian Gulf, and dinnergoers chortled over a videotaped presentation of assorted senate Democrats backpedaling in the wake of a war they'd opposed. Ted Kennedy was shown. News clips were shown. But for Kerry, the speaker simply read the two letters, to everyone's amazement.

I just saw a sound bite on FoxNews where Kerry says, "I'm going to Disney World"...appropriate for the ultimate Goofy.

The speaker was Sen. John Heinz. Two weeks later, he would die in a plane crash. Four years after that, Kerry would marry his widow. Bad karma. Let's see if next time around Hillary ends up with the widow and the fortune.

Sounds as though there are two PAIRS of letters, one PAIR in 1991, a newer pair after 2002. Lemme take that back. Maybe there is only the one pair of letters from 1991. I've read so many Kerry flip-flop stories, they gues indecision grows in my imagination!

Very weird. I didn't read it all through the first time (bad habit of mine), but now I've got goosebumps.
The Kerry curse?

This story is going to be fatal to Kerry's candidacy. No matter one's politics, the juxtaposition of the criticism of Kerry, the unnatural death of the criticizer, and Kerry's subsequent marriage to the criticizer's wife will be just too repulsive for the general electorate to stomach.

I hope all Freepers are sending these great tidbits to everyone on their e-mail lists, because a lot of these details will never be reported in the mainstream press.

My current manager was at that very party where Kerry met Teresa. It's a small work indeed.

I can understand form letters. A politician can't write to everybody who writes to them.
But this is not a form letter....it is an outright DIFFERENT STANCE TAKEN IN EACH LETTER......this is incredible.
Wow...what a story this one is.

I just saw a sound bite on FoxNews where Kerry says, "I'm going to Disney World". And he told us that in a typical Kerry way.
He said he was going to Disney World but said, at the same time, that he had previously refrained from saying he was going to Disney World.
He really lacks an internal compass.

From the tone of the letters, it doesn't sound like a flip-flop -- it sounds like he had two letters -- one to send to those who supported the war, claiming he supported it also, and one for those who opposed the war, claiming he opposed it as well. My thoughts exactly!! This story really needs to get around.

Wow...what a story this one isI sure hope the story becomes widely known. It sums up Kerry very nicely.
A search on Google for "Wallace Carter" and Kerry gives 193 results.
