[history]
Everything is interwoven. Jesus tongue kissed Mary Magdalene, a lot. Potent juicy mystical secrets are everywhere, if you know where to look. Organized religion is the worst possible answer.
What supposedly sacred truths are available to us are all relative to those who hold the power. Often, just behind the facade of things is a huge hunk of gorgeous convoluted magic you would do well to lick. Meanwhile, the divine feminine is right there, winking, sighing heavily, waiting for you. Like, duh.

...and to defuse any potential claims that Christ has any surviving bloodline ... This is exactly where the European concept of the 'Divine Right of Kings' comes from.

You do know Morford writes for us, don't you? The readers of his columns love how he "sticks it to" conservatives.

I find it kind of irritating that some people think this bozo's views should be aired regularly on FR. What is the reason?
He's one of the great fools of our time.

There is an even better version of occult history.
Accorrding to the esoteric version of history promulgated by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln in their book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, the Merovingian kings were direct descendants of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ once they arrived in southern France following Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. The authors further claim that the Roman church killed off all remnants of this dynasty -- the Cathar heresy of Languedoc and the Templars -- during the Inquisition, in order to gain power through the "spiritual" dynasty of Peter instead of the "holy blood" (i.e. Sangreal) of Mary Magdalene's descendants. Holy Blood and the Holy Grail is a lot better book and quite entertaining for pseudo-history. The DaVinci Code is really lame.

Things have not quite been the same since that Revolution, wonder if this was the seed bed for that Revolution?

Well, in any case, he was pretty old for bachelor in those times. Perhaps Mary scared a lot of girls off. Jesus had an unusually close relationship with his Jewish Mother :)

Well if Nesta Webster had known about this area of esoterica she certainly would have made use of it in some fashion. She wasthe English writer who, in the 1920s, propounded the idea that the real force behind the Russian and French Revolutions was a conspiracy of Satanists, occultists and Freemasons dating back to the medieval Knights Templar. Such ideas were taken seriously at the time by many upper class Englishmen and find echos in such odd places as the fiction of Denis Wheatley particularly in "To the Devil a Daughter'.Websters writings continue to influence the world view of later Fascist groupings such as the National Front.
Particularly interesting is how Nesta Webster first became interested in conspiracy theory on a visit to Paris where she underwent a mystical experience that convinced her that she was the reincarnation of a French countess who had been a victim of the French Revolution, which she saw as being the work of the same occult forces as involved in the Russian Revolution. This is an interesting example of the point made in the book 'Magonia' that some believers in conspiracy have a super-historical perspective in which they see themselves as fighters against some eternal principle of evil, the reality of which is sometimes conveyed to them in a visionary experience.

Actually, the town is Saint-Maximim-La-Sainte-Baume, and the relics of Ste Marie-Madeleine are in the Basilica along those of St Maximin and others. The ancient and persistent legend tells of Saint Mary Magdelene and the Bethany family came to Gaul around year 45. Mary Magdelene lived out the rest of her days in spiritual solitude and contemplation in the hills/mountains outside of the town known today as the Massif Sainte Baume. The mountain grotto and chapel where she was said to have lived was a very famous pilgrimage site, visited by the faithful, including several kings.
I was up there a couple years ago, and sadly the area has been closed due to rock slides. Of course I visited anyway. The grotte and the surrounding ridges are stunningly beautiful and pure, and still make for a very moving spiritual experience for the faithful.

About a week ago someone posted

Until reading this letter I would have said all writings and claims to be writings of "LUNACY", however after reading his letter sure have many questions, considering what is the foundation of communism. = "ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

And oh yes, there are so many repressed buried burned crushed or otherwise flayed secrets of the true nature of divinity floating in the air like a mad delicious perfume, mysteries that have been rather nauseatingly overpowered by the rank dank cologne of the patriarchal church -- it's all you can do to breathe deeply anymore without gagging on all the repressed sexuality and stale machismo. This year's Bulwer-Lytton award winner.

I've seen in numerous sources - including Catholic ones - that it was centuries after the gospels were written that mandatory priestly celibacy was imposed, largely for reasons already described by previous posters. Conservative Catholics do not even dispute this. This is not to deny that - from the earliest days - celibacy was admired and practiced by some members of the church; but it was not a requirement for the priesthood.
