God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; Aquamarine; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Unexpected Kindness
Read: 1 Samuel 26:1-26
If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. Romans 12:20
Bible In One Year: Numbers 28-30; Mark 8:22-38
A missionary was teaching a class of young girls about kindness. She told them about Jesus, who said that a person who gives a cup of water in His name "will by no means lose his reward" (Mark 9:41).
The next day the missionary watched as a group of weary men walked into the village square, removed their heavy backpacks, and sat down to rest. A few minutes later, several little girls shyly approached the surprised men and gave them all a drink. Then they ran to the missionary. "Teacher!" they shouted. "We gave those men a drink in Jesus' name."
Although Mark 9:41 applies primarily to showing kindness to believers in Christ, we know that we are to "do good to all" (Galatians 6:10) and even give our enemy a drink (Romans 12:20).
In today's Bible reading, David had the chance for revenge against King Saul (1 Samuel 26:9). But because David revered God, he showed kindness to the king.
Showing unexpected kindness to strangers or enemies will not always change their hearts. But sooner or later someone will wonder why we were kind, and we will have an opportunity to tell about our Lord, who was kind even to His enemies (Romans 5:10). Herb Vander Lugt
Do a deed of simple kindness,
Though its end you may not see;
It may reach, like widening ripples,
Down a long eternity. Norris
One act of kindness may teach more about the love of God than many sermons.

In reading again the last verse of The National Anthem:
Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand,
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that has made and preserved us as a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust";
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
One is struck by how appropriate that remains for our nation!
We must always act not out of aggression, but for the rightness of a cause, as befits a nation founded under God Almighty.
"Millions of Americans seek guidance every day in prayer
to the Almighty God. I am one of them. It is humbling
to know people I will never meet are praying for me."
-- President George W. Bush
May Americans, as both leaders and citizens, ever remember that without seeking Him in all we do, we will ultimately fail.

Beautiful job, Dansy! And on such short notice! To me, patriotic threads are the 'easiest' to do - but also the 'hardest'- trying to decide which graphics to use! Yours are just perfect! Especially love this one in #2 post!
Nothing prettier than our red, white, and blue!

'Tis a Star-Spangled day with Old Glory posted in her place of honor.
From the day Francis Scott Key penned the verse, through each day that passes, our National Anthem brings forth a sense of pride and patriotism.
As a lad, on those rare occasions when I was awake to see the 'sign-off' on our television stations around the midnight hour, we knew what to do - stand while the anthem played. With visions of the US Air Force planes flying through the skies, or US Navy ships and planes sailed and flew with the Bands of the respective services provided the music.
To this day, hearing our National Anthem, brings tears to the eye followed by a quiet 'Amen' at the conclusion.
...o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. amen.
Tis a puzzle to the libs why we feel the way we do.
