Taking bets... everyone, taking bets...

My bet? It's ratings will fall below subsistence levels within three weeks. It will stay on with artifical life support for considerably longer, and I don't really know how long that will be because I don't know the financial situation of the backers, but I predict that it will not have a single week "in the black" after it's third week out. And frankly, I'm being generous.

Robert Kennedy, Jr.?

Give him a double shift - with his stumbling and stuttering he needs the extra time. Heroin has fried his brain.

She told her West Palm Beach listeners this week that she plans to "bury" Hannity and Grant.

She has no idea. She is certifiable.

Franken is expected to air at noon and go toe-to-toe with Rush Limbaugh

This could get interesting.

Messy, but interesting.

"WLIB, owned in part by former Manhattan Borough President Percy Sutton and run by his son, Pierre, broadcasts a strong signal over New York City, Westchester and a nice chunk of eastern New Jersey. "

I just had to highlight that the owner of the station is named Percy and he named his son Pierre. I guess he wanted his son to have a more 'manly' sounding name and Pierre is as tough as he wanted to go.

Do we get to hear the sound of Jeananne crawling on her knees over broken glass begging the President for forgiveness? THAT I would tune into!

Let 'em go at it. The thing is neither Franken or Garofolo were trained in radio. That doesn't mean that their show won't be successful, but if they plan on dethroning Limbaugh, they better think again. How they're going to get their potential lib listeners away from their bongs is another matter.

It is sort of a mystery why libs aren't successful in the talk radio genre other than my somewhat facetious suggestion that most of them are druggies. Could it be because libs identify more with visual images rather than the spoken word? Maybe most of them can't process verbal statements rationally. Who knows?

I have spent a working lifetime involved with the field of acoustics. A common riddle is often heard: "If a tree falls in the forrest, and no one is around to hear the fall, does it make any noise?"

I believe the subject of that riddle can now change to liberal talk radio.

They will have a built-in audience that is tailor-made for lefties - for years, when WLIB had talk shows, that was the place to go if you wanted to hear the crudest of anti-American and anti-Semitic outbursts imaginable. It was mostly a "no go" zone unless you were a leftie anarchist or you were the type who gets a kick out of hearing deranged people talking (or perhaps if you liked salsa music). That is mostly who will be tuning in. I doubt that they will wean NPR listeners away, other than just to check it out. Of course, the "people of color" who are accustomed to listening to WLIB are going to go ballistic to find out that there's suddenly a group of white liberal "usurpers" (to use a Sharpton phrase) who have moved into the 'hood...
