I just called Debbie Stabenow's office as well. She needs to be offed politically in 06. Same with Lenin in 08.
And look at Rockefeller and Byrd's vote. In West Virginia? How many hunters there. And Feingold is two faced as always. Votes against the AWB, but gets the low profile ammo ban(WORSE) in. Kohl's at least consistantly bad. Bob Graham and BILL Nelson suck as usual. Dayton showed his true colors as well. The rest are the usual suspects.
This one is so hard-core, even Bingaman, Daschle, DeWine, and LEAHY voted against it.
Kerry (D-MA) - AYE
Kennedy - In a recent report, the ATF identified three, .223 and the 7.62 caliber rifles, as the ones most frequently encountered by police officers. These high-capacity rifles, the ATF wrote, pose an enhanced threat to law enforcement, in part because of their ability to expel particles at velocities that are capable of penetrating the type of soft body armor typically worn by law enforcement officers.
Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating.

BTW - Let me clarify. ALL CENTERFIRE AMMO the AG says can penetrate body armor.
Maybe .22's would still be allowed under this........

To: Dan from Michigan
Hmm ... they would not be stupid enough to try and confiscate that much ammo.

I hate to demonstrate my ignorance for all to see, but what is centerfire ammo?
I own 7 guns, including a mini-14 that would have been effected by this amendment, but what makes its ammo "centerfire"?

According to Kerry, his voting record is sacrosanct and not an issue in this election...all that matter is that he's a VN hero.

Basically, you'd be allowed to keep your .22 - then when all criminals had was .22's and the statistics showed that .22's caused all the injuries, they'd take them too.

"In a recent report, the ATF identified three, .223 and the 7.62 caliber rifles, as the ones most frequently encountered by police officers."
These are the most commonly available calibers in law enforcement and the military, and the type most patriots will want to keep. Ammo for other rifles might become scarce.

I'll ask the obvious question that so far no one has volunteered an explanation for. I understand its a ploy to grab guns etc But what I want to understand is the public rationale for which they were attempting to sell this ban of "centerfire" ammo.

Dear Mr. Kerry,
Say "goodbye" to the following Gore states:
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa.
Maybe Michigan and Main, too.

Of course Kerry voted for Kennedys bill.
If he became Pres. he would do Kennedys bidding.

From the failed amendment:
(iv) a projectile for a centerfire rifle, designed or marketed as having armor piercing capability, that the Attorney General determines, pursuant to section 926(d), to be more likely to penetrate body armor than standard ammunition of the same caliber. Afew observations:
projectile: Ammo or bullets for reloading
designed or marketed: How does marketing make a bullet more likely to penetrate body armor?
more likely: what is standard? softpoint? if so, then any ball ammo {full metal jacket} would certainly be "more likely"
Virtually all Mosant Nagant 7.62x54 ammo could be outlawed since it is the "same caliber" as a 7.62x51 {.308} but 3mm more powder, not to mention those russian bullets are more than just lead under that FMJ.
