10 million on a work/school day is gigantic. It will pick up again on the weekend.
To: lafroste
That would stick it at #147 all time domestic - expect that to keep going up and up and up. =)

What I didn't know, but what I am learning is that this movie is reaching people for Christ. It is utterly amazing. A friend of mine was asked at work about how to become a Christian. The guy said he cried for a long time after the movie, that he attends church regularly but he never understood how to become a Christian. He asked his wife and she didn't know either. So he was asking his friend at work, "How do I do this..."
All I can say is WOW!

I saw it for the second time Monday. 12:15 show was full (not sold out). Just like the first time I saw it on Thursday morning. Lots of Matinee viewers for this movie, that's fewer dollars collected.

It'll break into the TOP 20 DOMESTIC "RATED R" GROSSES tomorrow. It could enter in into the Top 15, passing by Lethal Weapon 2, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Beverly Hills Cop II, Jerry Maguire, Fatal Attraction, and Scary Movie (#14 with $157,019,771).

Don't forget, NewMarket has been low-balling all of their estimate figures. Actuals won't come out until later today, and I could easily see this figure bumping up to the $11.5-13.2 million range.

I'd bet on it. The actual estimate for Monday is $10,350,000 - that number is way rounded off. Their Sunday estimate was lowballed by about $8 million. That was low by about 28%. If that same ratio holds true for Monday, then the take would really be about $3 million higher.

I could easily see this figure bumping up to the $11.5-13.2 million range. This movie has Titanic legs. This is a certified cultural phenomenon. It will reshape Hollywood and our culture. Thank you Jesus.

Agree on the DVD.
It'll be hard-pressed to pass Titanic because most young teens (the biggest movie viewing demographic) will not see Passion and it won't get the number of 'lunatic' repeat viewers (the 15 year old who saw Titanic 15 times because of her heart-throb Lionardo), but the DVD sales should be stratospheric.

Scary Movie #14. Now that's a scary thought.
