"I'm pissed at Lugar and Voinovich, however. "
I could have told you how Voinovich would vote, I lived in Columbus, OH for many years while he was Gov. I knew he would be for the AWB.

Ted Kenedy is worried he's going to get shot by a cop in a bar. Considering today's votes, he should be.

You're right.I forgot about Kerry flopping around on issues like a fish out of water. Silly me.
Quick someone give the swimmer a drink. He sounds like he is going to pop.

"AND FINALLY...I keep hearing that the GOP is destined to pick up a few more senate seats this election. Is it enough that we could bring the lawsuit bill back in say..January and get it done without crap hooked onto it? "
That's how we can win. Kill this thing now in its entirety, let the trial lawyers do their dam thing in the courts for another year, bump our margin up a little higher in November and do it right next session.
I trust our margin in the House but in conference it's all horse trading, we could end up with AWB but no gun show provision as a "compromise." No thanks.

See if Bush signs it before condemning him for signing it.

Ever heard that before? How about CFR?
No, I won't give him the chance to screw me again, before I SPEAK OUT! HE SAID HE WOULD SIGN IT.
He doesn't have the balls to do anything else.

Yes lets see, Imigration, farm bill spending, education bill spending, campaign Finance Reform (First Amendment) and now more gun control. The RKBA issue is numero uno with me. It is THE reason I go to the polls EVERY time there is an election. If this bill passes what is the difference between having an R or D next to your name? There will be none for me hence I can not vote for Kerry so I will stay home, maybe go hunting since I may not be able to much longer

Well, as long as it'll be called the Bush gun ban, we'll all be happy I guess, since it's not a dem taking them this time. Right? We can all celebrate when they revoke the rest of the 2nd cause it's the GOP doing it?

Baucus better have voted no. Montana is big time gun country. I knew where Burns stood, "Not just No, but hell no."

Drama queens ignoring perspective. The national GOP has to tighten up on RKBA - you may not see the AW Ban as important, but the betrayal is real.
The GOP can't simply take gun owners for granted as a voting bloc, and proceed to screw them unmercifully.
I don't necessarily agree with the "stay at home" crowd, but I can empathize. The pubbies that took power in 1994 did so because the conservative electorate -mostly gun owners -were FURIOUS.
Maybe that needs to happen again; voting out some antigun RINOs may send a message that needs to be heard before we get anywhere.

Does anyone know how the senators from Texas voted? I'm at work and can't take the time to look it up.
To: Diddle E. Squat
Dude, I never stay home on election day. In fact, for the last few years I've spent all day out at the polls handing out literature for GOP candidates. I've also been on my local county GOP exec committee for the last two years, and I'm currently running for chairman. So don't talk to me about not being involved.
However, I have no illusions. If the AWB doesn't sunset on schedule this year, President Bush, along with several Senate Republicans, will not be re-elected. That's just a fact.

So just ignore the continued expansion of conceal carry at the state level? Just ignore the 46 correct Senators, ignore that we are just 2 votes short of stopping this abomination? Just ignore that (right now) this is the most the gun grabbers think they can get away with, when you and I know full well there is far more they want to pursue?
To: xsrdx
Good post. I'm ticked, the AWB is an important issue, but I am just trying to keep things in perspective and not give the left any more victories.
To: Area51
ROFL!!!
That cartoon of yours is right on the money. I get so sick and tired of seeing these so-called "conservatives" letting Republicans get away with stuff they'd never let Democrats get away with. They're no better than the Clinton defenders who stuck by their man no matter what he did.
