[history]
Before the courts and the activist mayors hijacked the issue, there really was a genuine debate, an intelligent discussion, about the merits and consequences of same-sex marriage.
As it happened, it was between conservative and conservative.
On the right was Stanley Kurtz, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, who argued with informed passion and good sense for the traditionalist concept of marriage.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.
Stanley Kurtz is right on. Sullivan isn't human any more.
I wonder what the author thinks is the solution if he is against a constitutional amendment and against same sex marriage? Is there a third option?
Let me know if you want on or off this ping list.
And in case someone hasn't read this yet, here is what a noted homosexual spokesman says about "gay" marriage:
Hint: It's about the children.
An excerpt from: In Their Own Words: The Homosexual Agenda:
"Homosexual activist Michelangelo Signorile, who writes periodically for The New York Times, summarizes the agenda in OUT magazine (Dec/Jan 1994):
"A middle ground might be to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society's moral codes, but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution...
The most subversive action lesbian and gay men can undertake --and one that would perhaps benefit all of society--is to transform the notion of family entirely.
It's the final tool with which to dismantle all sodomy statues, [NOTE THIS:] get education about homosexuality and AIDS into the public schools and in short to usher in a sea change in how society views and treats us."

Also note these statements:
"to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society's moral codes, but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution...
to transform the notion of family entirely."

My heart absolutely aches for the new generation of "experimental" children, who will be paying for their caregivers' "right" to destroy the family.
America has been asleep, or this would NEVER have happened.

Marriage in one state has to be recognized by other states. Obviously, lacking an amendment, some states are going to legalize gay marriage.

Actually, gays have been adopting children for years. That concerns me much more than gay marriage ever could, but somehow we crossed that bridge with little fanfare.

I agree. Sullivan is just unreadable these days and it's not just on the gay marriage issue.
He's having panic attacks on almost everything and he's projecting that to his blog.

Marxism pure and simple. Hollow out the institutions and when they are weak turn them on their heads. Give them new radicalized, revolutionary definitions and functions. This is well under way. Look at the mainstream protestant churches! Look at the mayor's office in SF! Look at the courts!

Andrew Sulivan? Required reading? hardly. He is exposed for the fraud he is with this issue.

Where gay marriage is on a par with heterosexual marriage, as in some areas of Norway and Sweden, everyone simply loses interest in the institution. He's got cause and effect swapped. In Norway and Sweden, they had already pretty much lost interest in marriage, or they wouldn't have allowed 'gay marriage'.

And preWWII Germany had the Brownshirts as a "youthgroup". The fact that Rohlm and his "buddies" used it as a supermarket for fresh meat has been lost on the homosexual agenda PR spin.
The children are subject to homo-recruitment. GLSEN and GSA's are nothing but recruitment. Just wait until they have children.

I used to read Andrew Sullivan sporadically, sometimes he was spot on. Lately though, he has been very unreadable.

I hesitated to come to this thread thinking I'd get too mad to sleep. Thanks for your comment. It's really good.

Not so fast, the 11th upheld a FL prohibition on adoption by homosexuals, the SCOTUS just refused to hear the appeal. Ban stands.
Many people never realized it existed and there are rumblins to prohibit it after passing the FMA.
Also the procedure in many states is to have one "parent" adopt and then grant guardianship to the other "parent".
Eventually I would like to see the law get into a child can only have one mother and one father. This happens now with divorce court orders where the step-mother/father is not allowed to be called mother or father. But those are the really nasty cases.
What we realy need is for a conservative think tank to start writing a model divorce code, family law code.

If half the effort had been devoted to thwarting this monstrosity as has been given to thwart abortion, this would not be happening. It's happened because we've allowed it.

Surrogate mothers and artificial insemination will make the adoption issue superfluous.
