Not so fast, the 11th upheld a FL prohibition on adoption by homosexuals, the SCOTUS just refused to hear the appeal. Ban stands.
Many people never realized it existed and there are rumblins to prohibit it after passing the FMA.
Also the procedure in many states is to have one "parent" adopt and then grant guardianship to the other "parent".
Eventually I would like to see the law get into a child can only have one mother and one father. This happens now with divorce court orders where the step-mother/father is not allowed to be called mother or father. But those are the really nasty cases.
What we realy need is for a conservative think tank to start writing a model divorce code, family law code.

Surrogate mothers and artificial insemination will make the adoption issue superfluous.
