Coburn Will Seek Nomination For Senate Seat (OK)

Muskogee - Former Oklahoma Congressman Tom Coburn will seek election to the U.S. Senate, it was announced Monday.

Coburn, who served from 1994-2000 as a Congressman, says he has "resolved to follow my convictions and seek to become Oklahoma's next U.S. Senator."

Coburn says he believes the country has a "deficit of moral courage in the United States Congress," and that the Congress "lacks effective leadership to control spending and point out the process by which self serving politicians sell our children down the river with deficit spending."

Coburn, a Republican from Muskogee, served in the Congress for six years before retiring in 2000, keeping his promise to serve only three terms.

Coburn is currently a doctor in Muskogee and recently authored a book entitled "Breach of Trust: How Washington Turns Outsiders Into Insiders".

Senator Don Nickles decided last year that this year would be his last in the Senate after 24 years of serving the state.

Other candidates include Republicans Kirk Humphreys and Bob Anthony as well as Democrats Brad Carson, Monte Johnson and Carroll Fisher.

Would believe that Dr. Coburn will go to the lead with this announcement. He has a Conservative Voting Record in Congress that can be compared to that of the RAT Carson.

Dr. Coburn -- ACU Ratings

1995 - 100
1996 - 89
1997 - 95
1998 - 100
1999 - 100
2000 - 95
Lifetime - 97

Carson the RAT

2001 - 48
2002 - 40
2003 - 38
Lifetime - 42

Coburn is pro-life; Carson is pro-abortion
Coburn is pro-tort reform; Carson is against tort reform
Coburn is for vouchers; Carson is against Vouchers

Carson opposed the Fetal Protection Act and am sure only voted to end Partial Birth Abortion since it was an election year because he has been strongly pro-abortion with his entire voting record!

Dr. Coburn would make an awesome Senator. The GOP OK City Mayor, who is running for Senate now, should start thinking about running for Governor now.

I'm in PA but I like this guy; this is good news. I might even contribute to his campaign fund.

I was afraid that this Mayor Humphries could not win. The problem with Coburn, however, is that he tells the truth, and thousands cannot stand truth. Coburn is among the most refreshingly honest people who have served in Congress. I surely hope Coburn gets that nomination. Now winning in the fall won't be easy, but Humphries has no real chance for some reason. Coburn would be an OK version of, say, Bruce Hershenson or Jesse Helms.

Seems to be exactly what the Republican Party needs right now and a perfect compliment to Senator Inhofe, another honest man.

Coburn rocks! And Carson's one of those scary Clinton types who's been plotting his Oval Office run since middle school.

I know. Conservatives should put pressure on this Humphreys to drop out and run against that fool Henry in 2006.
