I know a number of people who didn't want to fight the crowds the first weekend. Some have definite plans, some already have advanced tickets.

More moving, by far. I saw it with .45MAN last Tuesday with our Church and again yesterday. I am *so* grateful to have seen it a second time. As much as I thought I had paid attention to every detail the first time, I actually saw an entire scene yesterday that I had missed previously.

I would go to see it again and again. Last I heard the DVD was due to come out in June-July. We have boycotted Hollywood so thoroughly these past 3 and a half years, we don't own a DVD player - but, we were out pricing them this weekend in anticipation. Our "collection" may only have *one.*

This movie is brutally accurate historically. It is also
accurate religiously. I'll repeat the rest of my review:

Saw it Friday.

It was not as brutal as I had prepared myself for. The
brutality exhibited there is most definitely supportable by
historical records of Roman torture, scourging and
crucifixion. I forced myself in spots not to avert my eyes,
but I never did. I wondered a couple times how a person
could take this and not pass out, but the Romans were
experts in these things, and once they even prevented some
cruelty because "He can't take any more", so Gibson probably
has it right.

Tears were rolling down my face during much of it as I
realized I caused this. I kept saying, "I'm sorry, Lord".

I blubbered like a baby a couple times, most prominently
(surprisingly) during the flashback to Mary's running after
a falling little boy.

This movie made me realize not only how bad I am, but how
good I am, too, and my parental instincts brought to the
fore by that scene helped me know that. I think it amazing
that the film was able to do that in the midst of all that
brutality. Jesus did this because He knows we are worth it
despite ourselves.

The flashbacks were wielded to incredible effect. I think
this movie is a perfect work.

I will recommend that EVERYONE see this ON THE BIG
SCREEN unless they are under 15 or truly unable to see even
a cut without throwing up. I think Catholics who have really
absorbed The Stations of the Cross (and seen the crucifix)
regularly are likely to have an easier time with the brutal
reality portrayed by this film than many others, so get
yourself prepared.

The flashbacks were beautifully used.

The extent of "artistic license" used is easily justifiable,
and in no way is it anti-Biblical or anti-historic.

I will be seeing this again on the big screen within the
next week - only the second film I'll ever have said that
about - and, as a sidelight, the most violent movie I've
ever watched was Ben Hur, since I shun violent movies.

ALL negative comments made about this movie are either out
of ignorance, or from the Enemy - period. I believe that
many of those who are ignorant are reachable by discussion
that what was portrayed is truth.

I've found that the one historical glitch I believe I
detected was, in fact, accurately portrayed by the film.
I've yet to research the single Biblical glitch. To the two
"did he go too far in portraying this" questions I had while
watching, I've since decided I can answer, "no."

Many adults will have major questions about a large number
of things, both historical and religious. Those who seek
out answers will discover that the film withstands scrutiny
on those bases.

I'm more impressed over time since I've seen it with the
portrayal of Satan.

I've not found myself dwelling on this film every spare
moment, as some have reported. Perhaps that is because I
long ago had what I would call "a deep religious experience"
that impressed on me the brutality Jesus endured in order to
redeem my sins. I suspect that many others will have a
different report about this.

I think that as of Sunday evening, only about 1/4th of those
I've spoken with who have present intention to see the film
have done so. I suspect that word of mouth will inspire
even more to do so. I'll be very surprised if box office
returns are not heavy for at least the next two weeks.

Again, I repeat, this movie helped me realize not only how
bad (sinful) I am, but how good I am, too.

Interesting take. We come over as neighbors. I welcome everyone that comes to my door.

I my turn them away, talk to them, or attempt to convert them. Do the same thing with Rats. I consider it an opportunity. I doubt this is a problem you cannot handle. Put a sign on your door. Christians respect that, more so than beating your fist against the wind.

Really, I am here to share my viewpoint and glean from the views of others. However, I can go one on one, face to face. No problem. I have experience. I love engaging JW's and LDS'ers when they pound on my door and take the same response when Rat weasels come to the door. If you are too fearful and have to make excuses why you cannot engage in debate because you are not sure of your convictions, then too bad.

This is the problem for years, "Do not knock on my door, I do not want to be bothered". People either need to engage in the battle, or blindly accept the consequence of remaining aloof.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for everything.

I will not apologize for my stand, I will knock on doors. If that is a problem to some, then I will consider them spineless.

bobo: That is interesting. I work two jobs (70 hours a week) and pastor a small church. I am 50 years old.

Wow, this is 1,000,000 ahead of LOTR:Return of the King. I guess the question is, what kind of staying power does it have?

I had not seen your review before, and I am glad you re-posted it. My husband anad I are planning to see the film this next weekend (our daughter got married on Saturday, so we were rather busy). Your opinion is valuable to me and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you felt about it.

There is no violence in the film and no anti-Semitism. Jesus died willingly for my and our sins. Every stroke on his body was from me. I was one in the crowd that yelled Crucify him! My sin is no better or worse than the striker. My sins are no better or worse than Barrabas'. He mekes all things new.

What bothers the anti-Passion people is that the movie destroys the Jesus myth that he was a great philospher and nothing else. The movie shows that he is The Way, the Truth and The Life and that no man comes to the Father but by him. Then he dies as a man and forgives us of our sins. Perfect forgivness means that my sins no longer exist and am a new being. This is the destruction of moral relativism that is preached by Soddomwood theology. This movie is very powerful for Jesus Christ and Christianity around the world.

Very significant. Many showings were sold out, meaning that the numbers would be even higher, if everyone who wanted to had been able to see it.

NJ Catholic priest was so appalled by Mel Gibson's "The Passion of The Christ'' that he described the film as "religious barbarism.'' "I saw it as religious barbarism ... in my opinion, God did not send his son to die,''

My son went after work last night. 9pm showing on Sunday night was sold-out. He waited in line for another 30 minutes to get tickets for a 9:55 showing. It ended up being sold out, too. 9:55pm on SUNDAY NIGHT???
This is phenomenal.
