A Shameful Past: Don't play the Vietnam card with me, John Kerry
WSJ ^ | 3-1-04 | LAURA BARTHOLOMEW ARMSTRONG

The Vietnamization of the 2004 presidential campaign has unfortunately begun, thanks to the likely Democratic nominee. But John Kerry's service--Vietnam, in case you haven't heard--doesn't exist in a vacuum. His 19-year Senate record is at long odds with that short naval career, just as his vote to send troops to liberate Iraq is at odds with his later vote not to fund the mission. His supporters ask us to note his heroism in combat. We have, ad nauseam. But more important, and the thing he doesn't want discussed, is the well-documented though less well-known hypocrisy of those who use his service to further their antimilitary agenda.

In the 1992 presidential election, when Bill Clinton was accused of dodging the Vietnam draft, Kerry said, “I am saddened by the fact that Vietnam has yet again been inserted into the campaign . . . . The race for the White House should be about leadership, and leadership requires that one help heal the wounds of Vietnam, not reopen them.”

Reports of JF*inKerry's behavior in Vietnam are quite in line with his record... only the myth is at odds with his subsequent behavior. If this guy doesn't reek of abuse of power, I can't imagine who would.

The problem is, when these things are posted at 12 midnights, nobody sees them because they are bounced off the sidebar by morning. This way, more people can see and comment.

If the mainstream media spent the same time scrutinizng the actions of liberals as they do conservatives, the Dims would not get 25% of the vote.

They can be seen if the poster does a search before posting and when discovering it's been posted previously - bumps it. And the discussion isn't fragmented, either.

Most people don't have the time to search for it and will miss it unless it is in the sidebar.

As BlueAngel said, "Thanks for posting. Missed the first one."

That's why it is pure folly to post important pieces like this one when nobody will see it.

Thanks for the post!
Missed the first one...I don't know that it would have occurred to me to search for something that I didn't know existed.
How do you do that?
I guess one could just type in Kerry and see what matches and then click on whatever is interesting....I guess...
