Moviegoers object to '666' on tickets for 'Passion'

Tickets at one movie theater screening Mel Gibson's ``The Passion of the Christ'' are being deemed decidedly unholy. The number 666, which many Christians recognize as the ``mark of the beast,'' is appearing on movie tickets for Gibson's film at a Georgia theater, drawing complaints from some moviegoers. The machine that prints tickets assigned the number 666 as a prefix on all the tickets for the film, said Gary Smith, owner of the Movies at Berry Square in northwest Georgia. The 666 begins a series of numbers that are listed below the name of the movie, the date, time and price. ``It's from our computer and it's absolutely a coincidence,'' Smith said. ``It has nothing to do with the film company or any vendor. It's completely in our computer.''

As someone who knows a LOT about computers, thus is not likely. It was also not likely that on 9/11/02 that the NY Daily Numbers lotton winning numbers would be 911, but they were.

I chuckled at all the 666 parodies you posted. But, even though I followed the 9-11 hell a good bit, I've never heard of the lotto winner being 911 on that day.
Are you sure?

pinging you to this thread, dark lord.

You have to wonder how anyone paranoid enough to cringe at "666" on a ticket stub would react to the notion that the Jews killed Christ.
Only if you wonder why anyone would read Revelation at all. Then again, maybe getting those who read prophecy to think that they are 'paranoid' is the objective of some.
The Passion of course shows many Jews, including some of the Priests even, protesting Christs persecution.
That said, it was incredibly, incredibly odd that after following months and months of writings from screechers pointing and yelling 'AntiSemitic' at the movie, not a single article ever noted or commented about these scenes which revealed that dissent. I had to see it for myself in the movie. Now that omission was interesting indeed - and lends credence to other, politically-based motives for all the screeching against this movie.
Here's a truth: being anti-Christian fosters the worst kind of antisemitism ... delberate pursuit of promoting ignorance. Its the required fertilizer for the more visible evils it nutures.

OK. What does that have to do with you knowing "a LOT about computers?"

No offense taken. I'll grant I don't 'know' alot. But, I've experienced a lot that teaches me sometimes, relying on secularly-derived knowledge doesn't suffice.
I'm just saying that, sure, it's technically possible it is indeed, just a coincidence.
But, spiritually ...... I doubt that very, very much. After all, some manager out there likely looked at this ticket, saw the 666 number .... and had the option, not taken, to change this 'coincidence' before the sales started to ratchet up.
But, could be I'm just looking for what I want to see. But, in this particular case, I don't think so.

Actually, given the number of theaters that the movie is playing in, one would statistically expect a few to start ticket numbers with "666" by pure random chance.

I know that given a typical IT support analyst w/ typical access privileges, changing a sequence number is a trivial task. That's all. And lots worse has been done out in the open.
But, boy, this thread is getting interesting. Its astonishing to me that 'proof' of evil is required before its seen as something to acknowledge. The act of thinking its possible, and god-forbid, probable! .... hmmmm. I think I'm getting feedback that this pathway is to be discouraged.
Now, why would that be? Who gains by promoting the reality that it was 'chance'?

It is entirely possible that the manager couldn't do anything about the ticket number sequence. Rarely do they have the ability to make changes to IT policy.

Fairly stated, I'll grant. And, it could be my conjectures are way off base. But, when a burgler is booked year after year, then, this year, I'm not surprised if he deliberately does it again. In fact, why would it be incorrect to think it to be likely?
My hope indeed is that it is just a coincidence. But, on many other things related to Christianity, I've seen and experienced things that are clearly designed to mute the message. And many, many of these things are not coincidental - they are premeditated, and unsurprisingly so.
