Fairly stated, I'll grant. And, it could be my conjectures are way off base. But, when a burgler is booked year after year, then, this year, I'm not surprised if he deliberately does it again. In fact, why would it be incorrect to think it to be likely?
My hope indeed is that it is just a coincidence. But, on many other things related to Christianity, I've seen and experienced things that are clearly designed to mute the message. And many, many of these things are not coincidental - they are premeditated, and unsurprisingly so.

Part of effectively combatting biased behavior is to be restrained, so that you are not seen to be hypersensitive and your words dismissed on those grounds.
