I suspect you're running ME. Dude, get a new operating system. XP Pro if you can afford it or have someone that will provide you a copy. As a last resort you can upgrade to the latest version of IE which is 6.0

Okay solution. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs. Remove IE. Reinstall IE from CD or downloaded EXE.
Better solution. Go to
http://www.mozilla.org/ and download and install Firefox, the best web browser available today bar none.

Make sure you have the latest Internet Explorer Service Pack and upgrades using Windows Update. I've already had to remove updates and re download them from MS update site. Used to see this a lot, but it's been awhile.

I'm thinking you've got a very nasty piece of spyware. I spent four hours yesterday trying to solve the same error on my dad's computer and finally traced the problem to a piece of spyware. Try downloading
Spywarezapper and seeing what is lurking on your PC. Once I did this the problem went away.

Here's what MS has to say.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q265/2/44.ASP&NoWebContent=1 Go to Add>remove Programs, and choose to remove IE. You'll get a box with a choice to repair IE. Try that first. Hopefully that'll work, but if not you can try the option of downloading IE as stated in the bulletin. I personally use IE6, and the only problem with it is some weird incompatability with the HP bundled version of Easy CD creator.
And don't listen to people saying that ME sucks, and go for Big Brother XP, blah blah. I can direct you to a couple of computer forums I'm a member of, and the XP forums ain't exactly sitting idle and catching dust, know what I mean?
