As the primary election approaches there are three contested House primaries on the Republican side and a Senate primary.
I am looking for opinions and policy positions.
Senate
Incumbent George Voinovich vs. John Mitchel
OH-10
Ed Herman vs. Bruce Cobbledick vs. three others
This is to me the most interesting race. This is Dennis Kucincich's districts and his presidential run has been an embarrasment making him vulnerable
OH-13
Robert Lucas vs. Dan Ortega (no website found) This is Sherrod Brown's district. As of now, Sherrod looks strong but it's still important to put up the best candidate. This is my district and I haven't heard one word about either of these guys.
OH 15
Deborah Pryce, incumbent and House leadership member, vs. Charlie Morrison
In Ohio 10, Cobbledick vs. Herman could be the close race. This race is important as Kucinich is beatable in the fall.
In Ohio 13, I'll guess Lucas over Ortega as I can find no information on Ortega.
Comments, debate, and prognostication are all welcome.
Me too. DeRino isn't up until 2006.
This is the first I heard of him, I didn't know Voinovich had a primary opponent.
I think there's an Eagles or Steelers fan or two in here, but this is basically just us.
The only one I can comment on is RINOvich Vs Mitchell:
Mitchell's name first came up I believe two year's ago against Dewine. I like what he says, I like having a choice against RINOvich, and I will vote against Geo in a protest, but Mitchell is not going to win.
There have been two years since the last election(I think I have that right, if it is not, make that four), and people are only hearing about him the day before the election? He can't be very serious about this. You would have heard at least something, Like:
CRAZED REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER WALKS ACROSS STATE TO DRAW ATTENTION TO RINOVICH VOTING RECORD.
He has no money, he lacks the ability to draw crowds or money, he does not have an organization which goes very far beyond his local sphere of influence. If he got past RINOvich, he has no name recognition against a Fingerhut, or a Jerse, or even Springer. His candidacy has noise value only.
BTW: I am not casting a courtesy vote for Bush43 tomorrow, and I am hoping that Republicans who are dissatisfied with:
No Child Left Behind, (and horrible implementation)
Campaign Finance Reform,
Half Hearted Support for Judicial Nominees (only 2 recess appts.),
Much Belated Support for the Concept of Man-Woman Marraige,
The Disasterous Trial Baloon on Immigration "Reform",
Expressed willingness to sign an enhanced Assault Weapons Ban,
Support of Arlen Spector vs Pat Toomey in PA,
Medicare Prescription Drugs, (I don't care if it was a promise, it was a bad promise),
Not one, uno, un, single, solitary veto of a bad spending bill in THREE years,
These are just a few of the things that I am protesting the Bush Presidency about.

In God We Trust
..Semper Fi!
I agree, and this is my district, so thanks for raising the "query"!!
Herman is endorsed by the "party" and by the Plain Dealer, but that's not necessarily a "selling point" to me, LOL! I also think Kucinich might be beatable, but this "race" is pretty far below the radar screen, so unless you have a lot of time for "research" or happen to know the candidates, it's hard to make a wise choice...
Based on the candidates' "home page" information, I'm planning to go with Herman, but I would love to have more info. if any of "youse" have any!
FReegards from "fed-up-with-Kucinich land"! ;)
Will the Democrat that is running for the senate this fall be more right wing than Voinovich?
I doubt it. If voinovich is not the candidate for theRepublicans the Democrat wins. Remember Bush only won Ohio over Gore by 3 points. Ohio is trending Democrat and no onec can win the Presidency without Ohio. It has not been done in 50 years.
In Ohio your choices are leftist or very leftist. It appears you have chosen very leftist. By witholding your vote from Voinovich you will convince him he needs to make up your vote withs someone else. He can only do that by moving further left.
Someone had best begin to turn the electorate to the right or there will be no more even slightly right wing presidents... only left wing and more left wing. There is no chance that Ohio will have a right wing Senator until the electorate's ideology is turned aound. To win a senate candidate has to carry Columbus. No right wing candidate can do that. Running a candidate that can not be elected only gives total victory to the other side.
Ideologies win by converting voters to their views. Then candidates that agree with that ideology will run and win.
Ideologies lose by selecting candidates that the voters won't support and ignoring the real work of converting the voters to their views.
You're working hard for the 'rats I see. 2 terms of Clinton were not enough for you huh?
There is not a dimes worth of difference between the 'rats and the far right fringe.
You saw his list of objections to Bush, didn't you? Since you are a self admitted 'bot', then I'm sure that you don't have a problem with any of these transgressions, right?
Some of us DO have a real problem with this stuff.
