WASHINGTON -- As John Kerry campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination, he is stressing his military record as no candidate of his party has done since John F. Kennedy made his PT-109 a household name in 1960.

Kerry also is contrasting his own service, as a Navy swift-boat commander who received three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star, with that of President Bush, who did his Vietnam War-era service in the Texas Air National Guard.

***Media reports have centered on military records showing Bush might have failed to report for duty for a year during his six-year stint in the National Guard. ***

They certainly have, despite evidence to the contrary, as the LIBERAL media campaigns for Kerry.

How did Tex put it last night? It was perfect.

Something like "his medals better be on the up and up because he's using them to run for the presidency."

Maybe I can find his exact comment in his forum.

While Kerry asserted Friday that military families have had to pay for their own body armor, the Bush campaign said that he voted against a body armor spending measure just last year.

This bozo had better be damned sure those medals are on the up and up. His entire claim to the presidency is now tied to it.

Media reports have centered on military records showing Bush might have failed to report for duty for a year during his six-year stint in the National Guard.

That statement is so slimy, it could only have come from the klinton slime machine. I think Kerry made a deal with the klintons. They're helping him, with the understanding that he'll lose anyway.

The upside for Kerry is that he will be declared the third-greatest person in history, just behind the klintons. And he won't have to worry about a dirt nap at Ft Marcy Park.

Kerry has to focus on his past. He has NO vision for the future at all. Just a return to slick willie-ism. Somehow I think the American people grew up on 9/11 and don't want to go backwards, we want to have a secure future.

Being from Mass myself I have heard rumors about Kerry and his stint in Nam that are not exactely flattering. They are third hand rumors- but nonetheless- lets wait and see. And not to disparage Nam Vets with medals- but my Pop says they were handing out medals and Purple Hearts in Nam like candy.

That one sentence has more truth in it than I've seen, anywhere, in a long time.

Thank you for pointing this out, onyx. And, thank you, Texasforever, for being just plain profound. ;o)

Oh no, I am so sorry you're sick. I noticed you've been scarce tonight. FR is like a ghost town without you.

Heck in your absence, I am having a wonderful exchange with *gasp* and *don't faint* Burkeman1. The Passion of the Christ has brought us together.

Yep, he's an impressive thinker. Writes succinctly too. Reminds me of a couple of "our" MS men.
