A prominent Illinois anti-abortion group said Wednesday it might withdraw its backing of Jack Ryan in the Republican U.S. Senate primary after learning that a health-care firm for which he is a board member processes Medicaid claims for abortions in at least one state.

Ryan, who was leading the crowded field of Republican candidates in a recent Tribune poll, opposes abortion except in cases of rape and incest and when the life of the mother is at risk.

On the local morning show a few weeks ago (WSOY AM in Decatur) Jack Ryan was asked what his relationship with Jon Corzine was, and he answered that besides being his boss, he was his good friend & mentor

Anyone who calls Jon Corzine his good friend is no conservative.

the funny part is if you do a websearch and put in Jon Corzine/Hillary Clinton you will find that Jon is pretty far up Hillary's behind.

Hysterical unsubstantiated attack on Jack Ryan by chicagolady who always refuses to state her motives, issues, or reasons for crusading against Jack ALERT!!!!

For newcomers to this discussion, chicagolady who comes up with more far-fetched mud to sling each and every day but won't answer the following simple and quite neutral questions which I have already publicly answered on the Illinois site:

Why are you a conservative (if you are)?

Why are you a Republican (if you are)?

What are your five most important issues in order of importance and why?

Who is your preferred candidate and why?

Why do you believe that your candidate will best advance your issue priorities?

Until she answers, pay no attention and move on.

And my final question to her is WHAT IS YOUR REAL BEEF AGAINST JACK RYAN??????

Answering these questions is really not so hard as I will now demonstrate:

1. I am a conservative because I am an orthodox Roman Catholic in communion with the Holy See which makes me a social conservative, a believer in armed self-defense (See Leo XIII's Rerum Novarum); a person who believes that government's primary obligation is protection of those in its jurisdiction from enemies foreign and domestic (see Rerum Novarum) with a military defense second to none and head and shoulders and knees and toes beyond whatever comes in second; an opponent of theft (excessive taxes)(See Rerum Novarum); and an enemy of gummint edumacashun (leftist indoctrination paid for by taxpayers). 2. I am a Republican because I am a conservative. 3. My most important issues are:

a) Pro-life pro-family;

b) RTKBA;

c) Military strength second to none used whenever expedient in defense of our freedom;

d) Slashing government's allowance;

e) Slashing regulation of business and workers.

Jack is fine on 3a, c, d and e.

Jack has apparently said something about supporting "reasonable" gun laws. There are no "reasonable" gun laws just violations of the Second Amendment. If that is your killer issue, fine. I can understand that.

Jack has the money for the race for sure. Jack is leading 3 to 1 over closest rival Oberweis who called pro-lifers the Taliban in 2002 and now calls himself a lifelong Catholic prolifer. There are a little over two weeks remaining. Here comes the late campaign character assassination and smear tactics.

BTW, it is Demonrat Blair Hull who had the messy divorce with the family violence protective orders for whacking his wife's shins.

As an attorney, I represented 1100 people arrested in Connecticut in what was called Operation Rescue, sit ins at abortion mills to stop abortion by direct action. Jack is OK on pro-life. Thje perfect is often the enemy o the very, very good. I don't like exceptions.

Hynes, BTW, is genuinely dangerous but fortunately trailing in the Demonrat race.

Now he is going to join Hillary fighting for space in Corzine's bodily cavity where the sun shineth not. Sure he is. The faux basis for this smear is that Jack was a partner in Goldman, Sachs when it was headed by Corzine. Of course, Jack was probably one of a couple of hundred vice presidents.

The real deal is Jack was one of a substantial number of children in a financially modest Irish family. He came by his money the old fashioned way by gaining an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth, and a law degree from Harvard Law and an MBA from Harvard Business School and still retired before 40 with a nest egg of $50 million or more. I sure wish my kids would follow his example in school and business. Apparently Jack was a successful practicing capitalist. We would not want somebody like that to be our candidate, now would we???

Chicagolady, back up the smears or stop the disruption and stop the smears.

Jack Ryan is leading three to one over his nearest opponent with 16 days to go. We got rid of the crooks of non-relative former governor Lyin' George Ryan who has been massively federally indicted for all manner of chicanery and corruption. Jack is a genuine conservative.

As I said, I couldn't find anything to substantiate that Ryan considers Corzine his best friend and mentor. Actual quote AND context would be very helpful.

Corzine used to be chairman of Goldman Sachs, he was first elected in 2000.

Do you or anyone here not have anyone, you consider a friend who is a Democrat?

As I said, I think Corzine and Ryan may have had a business connection, before either was even thinking of entering politics. If a guy at your company "mentors" you and helps you, do you ask him if he is a Democrat, and if he is, you reject his help?

Anyone living in the United States cares or ought to about each US Senate election and particularly the ones where conservatives can and will prevail. Illinois is my adopted state. Do you think that the election of Phil Crane, Henry Hyde and Don Manzullo is important? If not, then I would disagree with you.

The Illinois GOP is transitioning to competence and principle. In 2002, the voters took out the trash: Lyin' George Ryan (crook extraordinaire) who cleared death row of its eminently executable public menaces: two of whom ripped open and 8 1/2 month pregnant woman to remove her living child to facilitate applying for AFDC, his pro-abort lieutenant governor Corinne Wood who begged baby-killer Demonrats to vote in the GOP primary so that Illinois would be SURE to have a pro-abort governor, etc. Georgie Boy is now indicted on about 58 counts of racketeering and corruption and I fervently hope he gets a lifetime sinecure at Allenwood Federal Pen. He left behind the state party chairwoman Judy Topinka, a minor statewide officeholder, who gets up every morning hoping to avoid indictment and hearing conservative footsteps overcoming her party leadership.

Our next step is electing Jack Ryan to the Senate and welcoming Peter Fitzgerald back home to continue his efforts at purging the crooks in GOP clothing and then to turn on the Dems. Remember that he is not necessarily retiring from politics merely from the Senate. He can finance his own campaign for governor if he wishes to do so. If not remember the name: State Senator Patrick O'Malley and also a conservative hero who will lose the US Senate primary for lack of money: longtime State Senator Steve Rauschenberger. Put these names together with the Congressmen I mentioned and we have a bright future in Illinois. How are things in your state?

Your friend Oberweis is a millionaire looking for a senate seat and rejecting the wisdom of Illinois voters who rejected him two years ago for a really insignificant candidate. Maybe that was because Oberweis called pro-lifers the Taliban. Now he calls himself a lifelong Catholic pro-lifer. I am Catholic. Catholics don't call pro-lifers the Taliban. Is Oberweis a lifelong Taliban or was he lying about Catholics and pro-lifers two years ago or is he lying about being a pro-lifer? We don't need to waste time finding out. There was a Democratic Senator George Smathers elected from Florida in about 1948 by defeating incumbent Democrat Senator Claude "Red" Pepper in a Democrat primary. Smathers who had once been an aide to Pepper went to the then unsophisticated but verrrry Democrat panhandle of Florida and told the folkses:

Senator Pepper once matriculated publicly every day as a university student. While matriculating, he displayed his thesis to a female teacher. His wife was a known thespian......
