If this Gnostic/Mystic criticism charge is about doubting whether a Catholic (ie. Gibson) could make a movie that a conservative Baptist could appreciate, think again.

There is no mysticism. There is no "veneration of Mary" or anything of that sort. It's only fault is its inability to do what is nearly impossible for any movie to convey -- the hypostatic union (divine and human nature of Christ).

My wife opened her bible immediately upon returning for the theater and found no deviation from the scriptures. NONE!

That would have been a good argument to make with this poster that questioned the fact that Jesus bore the full weight of the cross, even after a fatal flogging.

I felt that it was because of the power of God allowed him to bear it, and the weight represented the weight of all our sin.

Why don't you stop wasting time here and go read and think about what Paul means when he talks about Christ being preached. Instead of choking on gnats, do you see how God prefers to use the 'uncomely' [e.g. Mel to us ol'timers in a long-time-Christian sense] as well as anyone else He so Sovereignly choses. He knows that His Word does NOT return void. And believe it, His Word as written reached more people this past 5 days at one time than we've seen before.

A perspective that many Ministers have. (I wonder why, LOL)

They fear misunderstanding.(they are wrong)

I think people will seek out knowledge when they want more.

This film, if anything, has done something that they cannot do from the pulpit.

It has made personal, the relationsip with Jesus. They will never forget the feeling or the knowlege.

I suspect that many will come to the church that had not come before.

But the Church had better have something to offer them.

How about an in-depth study of relevant Scriptures (OT and NT). They could exposit the relevant prophetic and Gospel passages. But please not the feel-good tripe they have been offering for the last fifty years.
