I'm going to call it a night, but please ping me on further takes about this awesome movie. I'd appreciate reading more of what you have to contribute.

Sure!
Did you see the rather unabashed review that I wrote?

Not a preacher. In fact I stopped attending church some time back. It became too patronizing, too contemporary. I LOVE the Word, however, and find a way to aaccess fine Bible teaching. Have a good night.

100% God and 100% man - at the same time. Only been done once - and only God could do it.

You misunderstand. Jesus and the Pharisees used the scriptures differently. Jesus taught; the Pharisees distorted.
I teach math, but I remembered I do have a dictionary in my classroom. I looked up Gnostic. I see where maestro is coming from. He behaves like a Pharisee. I am not impressed.

I ignore any negative comments on The Passion threads made by those who did not see it. They have no clue...

"A small concern I have about the film is that people will be satisfied with it alone and not seek for a great understanding through the Word."
Interesting concern. Hopefully it will drive the individual to read what is Written.

Interesting concern. Hopefully it will drive the individual to read what is Written.Thanks.
I was heartened to see a professor from Dallas Seminary defend The Passion on O'Reilly. Dallas TS is like the summa cum laude of Baptist (dispensationalist) seminaries. That was probably not noticed by too many of O'Reilly's viewers
The defenders of the film now need to turn to the Word for a more sustaining love of Christ. Impressions and emotions drawn from the film are strong but fleeting. However, the Word, our "daily bread" is able to occupy our thoughts today and years from now.

I missed this OReilly show. Thus far what I have been reminded of by those who preach/teach Christ do so under their shingle. What Christianity has become today is very well described by John in those seven churches he saw in the Spirit on the Lord's Day.
The one thing that I have not heard mentioned being in this film was that miracle given to each and every individual was as He gave up the spirit, that veil was rent in twain in the holy of the holies, from top to bottom. Flesh man, now had access to the Heavenly Father through Christ, and no more blood sacrifices, He became our Priest.
There is one thing that few will be able to claim after this movie, they never heard of Christ. The sands of time keep flowing through our Heavenly Father's hour glass of time.

Thus far what I have been reminded of by those who preach/teach Christ do so under their shingle. But my point is the very opposite. You have many who are very much under the non-Catholic "shingle" rallying to this film.
(The movie did not show that) the veil was rent in twain in the holy of the holies, from top to bottom. . . man, now had access to the Heavenly Father through Christ, and no more blood sacrifices,
This is a very good point you are making here. The post-crucifixion earthquake damage depicted within the temple conveyed this somewhat. But your broader point --access to the Father -- may not have been conveyed as strongly. But here I think that you run up against the limitation of movie-making.
Did the movie adequately represent the deity of Christ in the person of the actor? Obviously not. On the other hand, there were contemporaries of Christ who did not behold that deity when they were in the very presence of our Lord.

This true and I see your point.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in His presence.
