I love VDH. I just don't understand why he is a Democrat. Orson Scott Card too. I never seem to disagree with anything either of them says -- yet they belong to the Leftist party. Weird.

Excellent article. (Except that Israel didn't defend itself unilaterally in the Yom Kippur War. They were losing until Nixon initiated the largest airlift of military supplies in history. Then they kicked butt with some good ol' Made in the USA machines.) But from now on, anytime a lib screams about the "new" Bush doctrine of pre-emption, I will remember to trot out the Israeli strike on the Iraqi reactor. In hindsight: excellent decision of pre-emption.

We will preempt, and with pride. We have a right to survive and thrive. Anyone who threatens that -- in the slightest way -- and I mean anyone -- deserves a severe and deadly response.

Within the Bush Doctrine, "preemptive" is synonymous with "proactive".

Perhaps the greatest example of "multilateral" military action was the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union. Think of the vast multilateral coalition! Germans, Austrians, Romanians, Czechs, Finns, Spaniards, Bulgarians, and Italians all united together to attack Communist Russia, which in turn had no other combatants on its front but unilaterally-minded Russians.

I have only recently discovered VDH. What great moral clarity for a Mexifornian!

Please add me to your VDH Ping list!
