PORTLAND, Ore. The Hispanic Club, the Chess Club and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance are just some of the clubs that have displays in the hallways of Portland schools.
But after the Bible Club at Marshall High School (search) put a Bible and some other Christian books in a display case, some teachers complained to the principal. After a call to the district's lawyer, the display was taken down.
District officials said they felt the display gave the impression that the school was endorsing Christianity.
Bible Club leader Jeff Chatterton fought back by contacting the American Center for Law and Justice (search), an organization that has taken on a number of similar cases. This week Chatterton filed a federal lawsuit against the school district, saying that his right to free speech was violated.

I live in the Portland Oregon area and I am embarrassed by this action against the Bible Club. If you want to complain like I did, you can contact the John Marshall High School principal (John Wilhelmi) at jwilhelm@pps.k12.or.us or any of the teachers on this list: http://www.marshall.pps.k12.or.us/staff/e-mail_alpha.php

If the "athiest club" put a crucifix into a jar of urine, it would be cheered loudly by the school.
What a world....

Using the school analogy, does this mean that they endorse gay and lesbianism? Stupid school!

I guess, according to them, it's OK for a male teenager to stick his penis in the anus of another male teenager but it's NOT OK to put a few religious books in a display. If I were the principal, I would deny the homosexual display and allow the bible display.

I wrote him/her/it:The laws and courts have been very clear that religious students must be treated EQUALLY.
If the poor depraved homosexual kids can have a display which YOU OBVIOUSLY "ENDORSE", then the christian display should be OK.
I hope the school is sued and you are fired.

According to Religious Tolerance.Org, under the Federal Equal Access Act:
http://www.religioustolerance.org/equ_acce.htm ***The school is required to treat all of its student-led non-curriculum clubs equally:
Each club must have equal access to meeting spaces, the PA system, school periodicals, bulletin board space, etc.***

Maybe this isn't the right answer and I know not all people can do this but as many of us that can should--get the kids out of these dens of iniquity. Put them in a religious school, put them in a private school, homeschool them. As much as we can, conservative minded people are going to have to create and live in our own world.

A year or two ago (losing track of time again) the local multicultural mafia got some students in one of the Hillsburrito oops excuse me Hillsboro, OR schools to paint a mural of their "Hispanic" Heroes.
Guess who ended up prominently featured in the mural?
(You probably *won't* guess...) - JESUS!!!
Not surprising when you think about it (Yeah... maybe these "Hispanics" aren't quite the leftie-liberals you leftists *wish* they were...) - but *then*, the local anti-religion mafia went ballistic - or... they *started* to go ballistic, but, well... some of them - *most* of them? had dual membership in the multicultural mafia... and were unable to deicide which was more politically correct: "Hispanic Heroes", or "Hating Religion".
So we all got treated to the delicious spectacle of watching all the local liberals' two braincells beating each other to death in a frenzy, inside the vast, empty vaults of their cranial cavities... (never did hear whether the mural got to stay up or not). The entire controversy was documented in the Hillsburrito Evening Argus, if anyone can find it (I think it's a pay archive).
In this case, however, the course is clear: Trash the little rodent of a school administrator.
