Liberals Katzenberg and Geffen blacklist Gibson
Frontpage Magazine ^ | 2/26/04 | N/A

FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES: Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, the principals of DreamWorks, have privately expressed anger over the film, said an executive close to the two men. The chairmen of two other major studios said they would avoid working with Mr. Gibson because of "The Passion of the Christ" and the star's remarks surrounding its release. Neither of the chairmen would speak for attribution, but as one explained: "It doesn't matter what I say. It'll matter what I do. I will do something. I won't hire him. I won't support anything he's part of. Personally that's all I can do."

In other words, Mel Gibson will be blacklisted by the very same people who are still crying and wailing about the so-called "blacklisting" of fifty years ago. In that case, however, the people who were prevented from working (the sainted "Hollywood 10") were card-carrying communists who called for the overthrow of America.

I can't remember studio heads complaining about Oliver Stone's worship of Castro; Steven Spielberg's pilgrimage to Cuba for an audience with the supremo leader (which he called "the most important eight hours of my life.") But heaven forbid, no pun intended, that someone make an overtly religious film.

While not personally a member of the flock, I hope this movie takes in 150 million dollars .... if only because Hollywood, the major media, and academia look upon religious Americans with such disgust and disdain.

I assume Tim Robbins has already begun to complain about censorship, etc.

"I suspect Gibson might end up with >250 million in total sales."

I would not be surprised if, with the international totals added, he is closer to TWICE that amount. Just have a feeling that (like Titanic), this movie will open strong, then 'snowball' due to word of mouth.

They sure didn't have a problem with the 100% BLASPHEMOUS "The Last Temptation Of Christ" now did they?

IF what this executive says is true, and it is certainly questionable for starters, then surely this person won't be working with them again will he? Unless of course they're so rich that they don't care if this was allowed to enter the public consciousness.

The libs are running scared over "The Passion".

What if it starts a great religious revival, like the one in the late 19th century?

What if people are persuaded by this film to turn away from their sins and look to Jesus as their Saviour?

Then pigs like Geffen and Katzenberg and Eisner and the rest of the demoralizers of our nation will lose their client base. Their heyday will be over.

And the nation will be saved.

And both Katzenberg and Geffen are homosexuals. Something's really in the air.

Yeah, their backsides.

OMIGOSH! That's the funniest thing I've read in days!

Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen are upset that they don't get to share in the runaway successful movie's profits.

On his show tonight OReilly mentioned this NY Times article. He said members of his staff called Ketzenberg and Geffen for comments. Their official line was they had not seen the movie and would have no comments. OReilly indicated, and I agree, the mainstream media is out to get Gibson because they perceive that they are threaten by the religious right. They believe in a secular world and want nothing to do with Christianity. Folks its the good guys vs. the bad guys. Plain and simple.

It is always interesting to watch what offends Hollywood. They are never offended by sadism, nudity, obsenity, depravity, porn, and anything dealing with the dregs of society - but - they cannot seem to tolerate God, Christ, religion, respectability, decency, and morality.

Almost makes you see Satan swarming through them as he does in Mel's movie.

If I was one of them - I would be afraid - very afraid.

Recall that producer Michael Ovitz once claimed that Hollywood is now dominated by a "Gay Mafia" of which Geffen is the leader. I read an article once which stated that Geffen often demands sodomy during auditions.

He is an evil man who will harm Gibson if he can.

Proof positive...we conservatives need an alternative to Hollywood; Or own movie making meca.

I agree. Awhile back I mentioned that we needed a new Walt Disney to appear on the scene to develop a whole new gendre of movies for all of those turned off by the current mess being produced.

Maybe Mel is that man. There is a vast market out there not being satisfied at all by Hollywood's efforts. Someone with wisdom could tap that market and generate a whole new arena of film making.

Their official line was they had not seen the movie and would have no comments.

I just read a posted article that they are backing away from previous comments and now say they have no problem with Mel filming whatever he wants to film. "It is America, after all."

Funny what $27M dollars in a day will do to some people. :-)
