What irks me is EVERY candidate has now jumped on the ice-cream bandwagon here! They are all saying the same things now! It has become the Illinois running platform!

I'm so pleased to see people like Jim Oberweis and Howard Kaloogian running for office. Some people still have their priorities right about what needs to be done in this country.

If he gets that far, the ad might hurt him in the general election. The ice cream cone replaced with the "I" in Oberwies (I have partaken in his products AND inhaled them) leaves me wondering. Is he running for senate or selling his wares? Good ice cream.

I like it - I like it a LOT!
"In the spots, which began running on television stations statewide this week, Oberweis warns that the nation is being overrun by illegal immigrants.
"Illegal aliens are coming here to take American workers' jobs, drive down wages and take advantage of government benefits such as free health care, and you pay," Oberweis says in one of the spots. "How many? Ten thousand illegal aliens a day. Enough to fill Soldier Field every single week."
Dubya - pay attetion.

John McNeal, a former Republican state central committeeman, said Oberweis' radio ads have drawn many positive responses from callers on radio shows McNeal has been on recently. Those who look askance at illegal immigration make up "a solid phalanx, and I think it crosses over to what used to be called the Reagan Democrats," McNeal said.
Reagan carried Illinois two times. Maybe Oberweis is on to something here.

Four out of the seven Republican canidates oppose legalize status/amnesty for illegals.

I keep hearing Ryan has the lead there JP. At least he's one of the four.

Oberweis: Ten thousand illegal aliens a day [cross the border].Those stats are prostituted and fabricated," said state Rep. William Delgado (D-Chicago).
So, Oberweis underestimated?

Isn't Jim Oberweis a latter-day Charles Percy? I thought that he was the most liberal candidate in the Republican field.
