THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST

Without a doubt, this is the most eloquently beautiful piece I have seen written on "The Passion". The writer (and the poster) are to be commended. Thank you so much for posting this.

"Who do you say that I am?" Jesus asked. There is no middle ground. But, then, he told us there wouldn't be. Great review. Thank you for posting it. The gift of salvation has been offered.

With Jesus in his death throes, you wonder: Was it necessary for Mel Gibson to have shown all this gore? "To the hard of hearing you shout," said Flannery O'Connor. Mr. Gibson shouts. In this barbaric world, he's right to. "WOW" ping

Beautifully written. Thank you for posting this.
I heard the National Clergy Council was providing free passes for Congressmen and Senators to go see this. I hope they take the chance.

great post, Maigret.
"I don't know how non-Christians will see this film."
I think it comes down to this:
People who are not Christians (even if they are nominally "Christian"), who don't really believe that Jesus Christ died for the sins of humanity, see the movie as pointlessly violent. "What's the point?" was the reaction of the Citizen reviewer.
People who do believe, however, are almost invariably overwhelmingly moved by the sacrifice--they are suddenly confronted in a brutal, visual way by the pain and suffering that Christ endured.

"The Citizen" -- is the Ottawa Citizen. I'll try to find a link and post it.

One of the best reviews I've read. The movie made me wonder what my role would have been that day. Would I have intervened, participated, helped Jesus? No, probably not.
God forgive me.
