Gives credence to his claim that he's consistent.

I've heard some good things about Kaloogian, but Jones is probably going to win this thing in a walk. I don't care myself who gets nominated. A dead rhinoceros would be a better senator than Boxer.

Technically it was the general election before (1998) as an incumbent and he was one of two Republicans elected that year (Insurance Commissioner Quakenbush would later be forced to resign in disgrace).

I'll pull for Jones if he wins next week, but he'll have a tough challenge to knock off the evil Senate-Whore.

Nominate another RINO and set yourself up for a loss this November. No wonder the GOP is the stupid party in CA. Jones is a nice guy but his positions aren't too different from Boxer's. She'll have him for breakfast, lunch and dinner from here to November.

I honestly believe that Bill Jones is the best candidate in the GOP field to beat Barbra Boxer. Whatever we do, let's NOT nominate Marin.

Here's a few reasons why I think that Bill Jones is the best candidate:

1. He's white male, which is appeals to the fundamental GOP base (unlike what many people seem to think, the Hispanic voting population is still too small in CA to warrant a Hispanic candidate) Being a white male will be the strongest gender/ethnicity advantage against Boxer (who, on top of being female, is also Jewish) One of the reasons Matt Fong was wiped out in '98 was he simply was of the wrong race.

2. Jones has won statewide office before - as the former California Secretary of State, he's someone the voters know about and recognize (unlike Congressman Campbell in 2000)

3. He has Arnold's backing. The Gov doesn't like Boxer.

There are other reasons, too, but I haven't got the time at the moment. I know the polls don't look to promising for the general election right now, but I'm excited about Jones' candidacy and its potential.

Bill Jones isn't nearly far left enough according the RINO-luvin' gang. If he was, they would have voted for him instead of REARDON in 2002. During the recall election, remember how they ranted and raved that ANYONE who's even remotely pro-life is UNELECTABLE in California? Bill Jones fails the RINO "electablity" test on that issue alone. You basically have to be a socialist with an "R" next to his name to meet the threshold of "electabality" according to the Arnold/Bloomberg/Specter fan club.

I'd take Jones over RINO Arnold clone Rosario Marin anyday. Indeed, Bill Jones is kind of the "Jim Ryan" of California (internal reference for Illinoisans) but he's even lookin' better than Kaloogian right now. Kaloogian got everyone saddled with Arnold, which is worse than Jones trying to saddle people with McCain.

Anyway, the RINO club is whole-heartily backing Marin, not Jones. I hope they get their wish with Marin too, so they can see how "electable" non-celebrity RINOs are.

I was originally leaning towards Bill Jones, but after better researching the candidates, I now prefer Toni Casey.

Quite simply, I think has the right combination to defeat Boxer.

Jones would make a fine candidate against Boxer as well, but I think his support is 90% name recognition.

Kaloogian is easily the weakest in a statewide matchup.
I hope this time California Republicans won't shoot themselves in the foot like usual.

Hopefully California Republicans have finally learned over the last 2 years that after winning the primary, you still have to win the election.
