I just saw it as fire scorching skin and hair and triggering the nerves...that enlargement looks like a bad dermis drawing with a big fat hair follicle.

Actually, this is a depiction of the layers of skin (epidermis, dermis, etc.) complete with a close-up of a hair follicle that looks infected.

Calpernia- that picture seems to depict skin, cross sectionally. It shows hair follicles and sebaceous glands. I wonder what kind of infection could be related.
