CRAWFORD, Texas — President Bush {{{acceded to the demands of Mexican President Vicente Fox }}}and halted plans to fingerprint and photograph documented migrants entering the United States across the southern border.

During a news conference held after a morning meeting between the two men yesterday, Mr. Fox expressed his appreciation to Mr. Bush for scaling back the scope of the United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology Program (US-VISIT), exempting Mexicans who hold so-called "laser visas" from going through the additional security check.

WHY is our President giving into and acceding ANYTHING to FOX? Why is Vincente the boss of Bush?!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Actually, this looks like a much warier Bush than we’ve seen in the past. Agreeing not to photograph and fingerprint previously visa’d Mexicans every time they pass through is not the same as saying they wouldn’t be scanned and have that data compared to their visas. Slick.
All else seemed to be political back-rubbing with nothing signed in blood. Now Fox can go back and lie to his people while what measures we’re trying to implement can continue. Considering the election-year timing I think Dubya did better by us than usual. Too bad Vincente didn’t have an accident during their excursions to the far reaches of the ranch, though. “Grab me that harmless milk snake, would you? (he he he)”
