February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

I wonder if that is going on in other major city's ? Someone is pushing it. It could be Federal or it could be at the state level.

Yup, but do you recall the recent hints that Saddam was free? A Saddam double could be a propaganda tool for them.

I wonder too if it's going one elsewhere. Must be.

These were 2 different types of alert too. The first one was the usual one I always see here, but the 2nd one was quite different, just a different background and different look to it, and not one that I've seen before.

And it seemed to be faulty, the 2nd one, because you could barely hear the announcer, it was almost silent, as if they hadn't had any practice with that one.

General FYI:

FBI to reinstate Muslim agent suing others for defamation

( I also added links to earlier articles in the above thread -- that's the FBI agent who was recalled from assignment from Saudi, because he refused to tape the confession of Muslims)

I bookmarked and will check it out in more detail later, but figured some of you might be interested as well.

As noted below the hardware problems were in San Diego and London, so an overall weather problem cannot be ruled in or out. I just think that after reading about the scope of this internet company and the outage, that there has not been additional information about the cause.

"Level 3 admitted it was experiencing hardware difficulties, which appeared to be most prominent for the San Diego and London, UK locations. Keynote said that performance returned to normal at around 7:00 pm eastern standard time."

Who is Level 3? http://www.level3.com/

Level 3 (Nasdaq: LVLT) is an international communications and information services company and is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado. The company operates one of the largest communications and Internet backbones in the world.

Level 3 is one of the largest providers of wholesale dial-up service to ISPs in North America and is the primary provider of Internet connectivity for millions of broadband subscribers through its cable and DSL partners.

Nine out of ten of the world’s largest telecom carriers all continue to use Level 3 services, as do five of the top six U.S. Internet Service Providers, and nine out of ten of the largest European telecom carriers.

The company offers a wide range of communications services over its approximately 22,500 mile broadband fiber optic network including Internet Protocol (IP) services, broadband transport, colocation services, and patented Softswitch-based managed modem and voice services. Services offered under the “Level 3 Communications” brand include: • Wholesale Internet access services • Managed modem dial-up services • Broadband transport • IP-centric voice services • Private packet-switched services • DSL Aggregation • Colocation • Metropolitan and intercity dark fiber • Managed Services (Dedicated Internet Access (domestic and international), Remote Dial-up Access, Managed Internet Security, and Virtual Private Networks)

Based on the amount of Internet traffic on Level 3’s IP backbone, Level 3 is among the top three largest Internet carriers in the world. Through Level 3’s dial-up ISP customers, the company’s dial-up infrastructure is accessible to approximately 90% of the U.S. population. When a typical Internet user at home dials the Internet using a modem in the U.S., there is better than a one-in-three chance that their call is being completed within a Level 3 data center.

Crews Investigate Suspicious Powder
POSTED: 7:51 pm EST February 25, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Metro officials said the Judiciary Square station was closed Wednesday night while a hazmat crew investigated a suspicious powder.

The station, near Fourth and E streets northwest, was shut down after a white powder was reported near the manager's kiosk at the Fourth Street entrance. There were no initial reports of injuries.

Trains were not stopping at Judiciary Square.
Metro officials set up a bus bridge between Union Station and Gallery place.

Another post by Daleel. Gives the supposed time frame for the next attack. Sounds a bit curious and basically leaves it open for another few months of anxiety.

"In a tape aired by Al Jazeera television, Zawahri said: "Bush, strengthen your defenses and your security measures for the Muslim nation which sent you the legion of New York and Washington has determined to send you legion after legion seeking death and paradise."

Dr.Zawahri may god protect him said ( Bush, strengthen your defenses) he directed the words spicificly to (bush).

as you all know eelections are coming and (bush) might loose!! and Dr.Zawahri will not take chances that bush might loose! coz then the warning will be usless coz bush will be out of the picture!!

if the attack is coming after the elections Dr.Zawahri wouldnt have said (bush) he would have said America (under any presedent)!!

so the attack time frame is from now untill the coming elections!!!!! got the picture!!!

get ready for your punishment.

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

The Republic of Georgia plans to be a close ally of the United States and its giant neighbor Russia will have to live with that fact, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said in an interview yesterday.
