February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

I suggest people who have something to report use the resource that they feel most comfortable with and that is the most compatible.

For example, cyberterrorism might be reported to the DHS (http://www.dhs.gov) tip line, or the FBI cyber terror unit, or even the Rewards For Justice program which in turn would send it to the appropriate agency.

Do you find it interesting that Al Jaz did not play the tape in full despite prior warnings that they should play tapes in full?

I thought so too and mentioned it yesterday. I wondered aloud how seriously we should take these threats when Al Jazeera doesn't even take AQ's threats seriously, as demonstrated by their not playing the whole tape after being warned about it.

Man Nabbed for Jumping White House Fence

WASHINGTON - A man yelling "I'm a victim of terrorism" jumped a fence and ran across the North Lawn at the White House on Wednesday before being caught by Secret Service officers.

The man scaled a fence along Pennsylvania Avenue and ran about halfway across the North Lawn before he was surrounded by agents, and led away in handcuffs.

Al Jazeera is owned by the Qatari government - not sure whether that impacts what they air but it's worth considering agreements that might be in place between our government and Qatar's government.

One of the tapes that was aired yesterday, can't remember whether it was the one for Al Jazeera or Arabaya, arrived by telephone, which means someone called them and played it and had them record it.

Does anyone else find any significance in the fact that TWO DIFFERENT tapes were released yesterday by Zawahiri?

I would say that the 100 stairwells is in reference to:

Fire
Locked doors
WTC and 9-11

There are several links for 100 people in WTC who were trapped, as the fire door was locked.

Do a Google search for:

19 100 stairwells (this even has a link to the OKC Bombing)

Remember that granny only does the simple, type in the above searches, do not refine the search, if you want to see all there is to know about a subject. You get more surprises my way.

I will be interested in your ideas after taking a fast look at the above searches, there are even a couple from Asia, also info on buildings, I wasn't looking for your 100 stairwells in one building.

Actually, I think this is how they are finally going to catch the biggies - not by walking into a bomb making factory, but by following the paper (er, cyber) trail back to its source. Obviously, it's pretty well hidden, and its strands are pretty well spread out, but the good guys seem to be rolling them up one after another.

They can air pretty much whatever they choose to (as long as it is not about Qatar), the station is actually privately owned but funded in part by the Royal Family. There are long time ties between Al-Jazeera and information sent from al Qaeda (at least to '98) and has always tended to be the "trusted" station for AQ to turn to.
