February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Things do seem to be escalating at a rapid pace. Here's a comment from Mutters (3/7/04):

"Fatah armed wing declares emergency mobilization "

GAZA, March 7 (Xinhuanet)

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of the Fatah movement, announced its high state of alert in the Gaza Strip Sunday after an Israeli raid left 14 Palestinians killed early in the day.

The brigade pledged in a leaflet to "harshly respond" to the Israeli military aggressions perpetrated against Palestinians.

It called on all Palestinian militants affiliated with different movements and factions to "tighten ranks," saying that the Israeli occupation targets all Palestinians indiscriminately.

It also called on the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to resort to the choice of resistance and reject US and Israeli demands to end the intifada (uprising). Enditem

that ethanol tanker off the VA coast sank because of a what was reported as a "deck fire". well, alot of cruise ships leave from florida's eastern coast: Port Canaveral, Ft Lauderdale, Miami.

All I can say is: so far, they haven't been very effective. do you realize how many cruise ships sail from Florida to the caribbean? there are so many targets, they don't seem to be able to hit even one.

RUSSIA AND NATO TO HOLD JOINT MILITARY EXERCISES

"BRUSSELS, March 7, 2004. (RIA Novosti)

Under the aegis of the Russia-NATO Council, the first joint command-and-staff drill in theatre antimissile defence will be held on March 8 through 12 at the Colorado Springs national complex in the United States.

The drill is to check the efficiency of the joint experimental concept of operations prepared by the Russia-NATO Council and act out operative interaction, NATO press service said.

The on-line computer testing will be done by over 60 specialists from Russia and ten countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

As a result of the experts' practical interaction a database for large-scope joint exercises scheduled for 2005 is to be set up.

The arrangement of command-and-staff theatre antimissile defence exercises within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council is the first important step towards practical cooperation between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia, NATO headquarters notes. "

Also, apparently Russia is torqued that we are putting troops in Georgia. Also, the Saudi's just signed an oil deal with the Russians- interesting timing.

I wonder what it was? It sounds Horrible. Thankfully you are well now. (I had a bout with Lyme awhile back-it was initially diagnosed as a recluse spider bite.) Nowhere near what you went through!

Aren't rabies shots extremely painful? It was, I believel, five doses into a muscle over a one month period. Not something that sounds like much fun to go through.

Assuming that you are not dealing with a weaponized, antibiotic resistent strain, you can treat the infection with antibiotics.

From a Plague Q&A website: Q. What is the incubation period for plague?

A. A person usually becomes ill with bubonic plague 2 to 6 days after being infected. When bubonic plague is left untreated, plague bacteria invade the bloodstream. When plague bacteria multiply in the bloodstream, they spread rapidly throughout the body and cause a severe and often fatal condition. Infection of the lungs with the plague bacterium causes the pneumonic form of plague, a severe respiratory illness. The infected person may experience high fever, chills, cough, and breathing difficulty, and expel bloody sputum. If plague patients are not given specific antibiotic therapy, the disease can progress rapidly to death.

The point I was trying to address is that with this form of bioterrorism, people may believe the problem to be a bad respiratory infection and let it go to the very last minute before they seek medical attention.

I was reading something yesterday about using migratory birds to transmit diseases.

There are just so many possibilities, it's mind-boggling.

If you could ask Tom Tancredo one thing or say one thing what would your remarks be?

I would ask Tom Tancredo for his suggestions as to how to engage the other 80% of us who don't want these immigration concessions made so that our voices are heard by Washington, Congress and the Senate. We need to enforce the immigration laws already on record. Period - end of story. Just what can we do to put a stop to the surrender of our nation to illegal aliens as soon as possible.

We already have programs in place for immigrants to work here short term and long term. Use them. If they want to become citizens, we already have programs in place for that as well.

Prayers for your kitty Harley. What is wrong with your kitty baby? One of ours, Paws, is due to have babies any day now. She is going to be quite the mama. The babies will be Sphynx. Can hardly wait to see them. So cool that your daughter's favorite band will put her on the guestlist for the birthday girl. My son was here last month and absent-mindedly left his CD's on the plane. They showed up as lost luggage and are now missing (sounds like airline personnel to me). Too bad there are so many dishonest people out there. He is heartbroken his music is gone.

FNC all next week is giving a primer on what to do in case of terrorism, like the readygov stuff I just posted. Not that worries me, what are they preparing us for?

Now if they would only show us pictures of the terrorists in our midst on a continuous basis so we could possibly identify some of them and get their hineys carted off to Gitmo instead of allowing them the time to plot ways to kill us, that would be something nice!

"Canada: Hotbed of terrorism"
Time Magazine ^ | March 7. 2004 | Michael Elliott

Posted on 03/07/2004 1:50:20 PM PST by spyone

03/07 4:14P (CA) "Canada turning a "blind eye to terror," reports TIME Magazine"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "TORONTO, March 7 /CNW/ - "Despite warnings from security agencies, and despite media coverage of Canadians mixed up with terrorist groups...many Canadians seem unaware of the extent to which their country has become both a source of and a haven for international terrorists," writes TIME Canada editor Michael Elliott in his introduction to TIME's exclusive publishing of excerpts from Stewart Bell's new book Cold Terror: How Canada Nurtures and Exports Terrorism Around The World (John Wiley & Sons Canada, Ltd., March, 2004 release). The excerpts appear in the March 15th, 2004 Canadian Edition of TIME Magazine (on newsstands this week) and demonstrate Canada's vulnerability "'to infiltration by international terrorist networks'".

WoW Cabal - this is awesome - and true. What about copies to the radio and tv talk shows? Surely the more people who are attuned to what is happening to our country, the better it will be. The Google search at the bottom is brilliant. A work of some diligent thought and I, for one, am appreciative you took the time to put this together!

"Russian Student Arrested on Charges of Threatening U.S. Subway Attack in Email to CIA"
AP ^ | March 7, 2004 | Steve Gutterman

Posted on 03/07/2004 2:23:26 PM PST by Leroy S. Mort

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "MOSCOW (AP) - Authorities in Siberia arrested an 18-year-old student on charges of sending an e-mail message threatening to blow up a subway system in the United States, police said Sunday.

The teenager allegedly sent the message to the CIA during a computer class at Altai Technical University in Barnaul, where he is a first-year student, state-run Rossiya television reported.

It said the brief message contained a threat of a bomb attack on a U.S. subway system and ended with the words, "You will all die, Allah is great."

The message was sent three weeks after a bomb killed 41 people on a Moscow subway car. Authorities said a suicide bomber carried out the attack."

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Actually, this looks like a much warier Bush than we’ve seen in the past. Agreeing not to photograph and fingerprint previously visa’d Mexicans every time they pass through is not the same as saying they wouldn’t be scanned and have that data compared to their visas. Slick.
All else seemed to be political back-rubbing with nothing signed in blood. Now Fox can go back and lie to his people while what measures we’re trying to implement can continue. Considering the election-year timing I think Dubya did better by us than usual. Too bad Vincente didn’t have an accident during their excursions to the far reaches of the ranch, though. “Grab me that harmless milk snake, would you? (he he he)”

(Ahlam) God bless the Mujahadeen of Al Ansar in all their works (Ahlam) God bless the entire world of Islam (Ahlam) God bless the great Sheikh Osama Bin Laden

Using God's name in vain to promote the death and destruction of others at their discretion and wonton killing of others as sheer acts of terror are sins against the Ten Commandments. May the blasphemers and murderers be punished with Hell for eternity for their many transgressions. There would be no need for troops in the Middle East if these people would abide by the laws of the land and peacefully co-exist with their neighbors. Prayers for the destruction of others should be directed to the devil - not to God.
