February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees the irony of this.

how is someone going to trace back a tip posted here?

If someone here were truly releasing intelligence information, and the Government wanted to know the source, it would certainly not be real hard.

First, with issues of National Security, the Government could subpoena FR for the identity of the poster, provided the body of postings did not already reveal the poster's identity. (e.g. -- I am familiar with the process of such subpoenas to service providers in simple civil matters.)

In the case of Sean, who uses his full name and has his own cite, that would obviously be easy. That is, if he were putting out sensitive intelligence that the U.S. did not want out, for any reason, they would be talking to him to find the source. If, however, someone simply began rattling off intelligence in here, and that poster was truly anonymous, the Feds would move through FR.

Believe me, if you compromise National Security by posting critical information, they will find you. (Now, how they chose to get you to tell about the source of your info, that's another story. And, depending on the source, it may all get hushed-up.)

Most stuff we post here is harmless speculation and rumor. He says X, she says Y, what if this happened, etc. For the most part, this stuff is not not believed, but it has some propaganda/disinformation value that real spooks can appreciate.

You post real, hard data, photos, maps, movements, plans. You will find very quickly, that uncle Sam will be speaking to you. Of course, none of us here has such info, and even if we did, we would not print it.

The notion, however, that FR screen-name anonymity will protect someone is not true. To Sean's credit, he uses his full name, and he stands behind what he says -- even though I think he is way off. Frankly, Sean's stuff is what attracted me here to begin with. But, like everything else, you have to evaluate over time and compare with other info to assign credibility. Some folks think he is right on the money.

"Officials Release Sketch Of Man Leaving Plane Crash"

"Witnesses Describe Man Seen Walking Away From Accident"

POSTED: 5:27 pm CST February 29, 2004
UPDATED: 8:43 am CST March 1, 2004
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "HOUSTON -- Investigators are looking for a man who witnesses said walked away from a small plane crash in Brazoria County.

The Cessna 172, which was reportedly stolen from the Brazoria County Airport 6:30 a.m. Sunday, crashed in a field near Lake Jackson, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The plane struck some power lines about two miles south of the airport and crashed in a field around 6:45 a.m.

Nearly 11,000 people in the Lake Jackson area temporarily lost power Sunday morning after the plane crashed. Power was restored a few hours later.

Investigators with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department said 16 hangars were apparently broken into at the airport Sunday morning."

Note the new sketch in Cindy's updated post on the story. They took out the "white male" description as seen in post 1858.

Taliban Online back from the dead...

www.muslimthai.com/talibanonline/text/taliban/

Their forum is actually a subsection of clearguidance.com, so you will have to wait for Sasjamal and IbnMardhiyah to get settled into their new home in Malaysia. And speaking of Sas and Ibn, a connection between the Taliban and these guys would be actionable in the old-fashioned legal sense. Just ask James Ujaama...

For those of you with clearguidance memberships, the Taliban forum is here:

I was really referring more to things I would refer to as "tips".

if any subgroup of the government knew a nuke was going to go off in DC, word would spread like wildfire. families of those directly in the know, political connections, their friends and families, and so on. if someone on FR somehow found themselves in that loop, it would be nice if they posted that, and I don't believe that is against the law. Christopher Hitches has reported that he was in the "tip loop" regarding a supposed nuke that was on its way to NYC shortly after 9/11.

Yeah- like the fellow who blew up a vehicle in Hawaii- could that have been a smokescreen, too? (Distract security while something is slipped onto a plane.)

Just started checking up today- almost 5EST- any major events?

I was trying to be "optimistic" and grabbed onto the nukes being in clusters of 4-5 per city. That cut it down to 8-10 cities. Definites seemed to be DC, NY, Philly, LA, Las Vegas, Houston, Miami(?) Too unreal to really comprehend.

Maybe they're not really "terrorist" nukes- they're Russian.

"the source did not deny or scoff at the fact that there might be one (or several?) dirty bombs in the country"

I reread some of Sean's posts, and in the more recent ones he alludes to nukes being underwater, in ports and harbors. He still holds to the 40 nukes, but he doesn't depict them as being within cities as he first did- rather, they are described as across the country. Then he talks about how a radiation detector won't work to locate nukes deep underwater. Just a thought.

A tip on the roads is both.........

I joined a couple of Yahoo groups after 9-11 that were to send out info on the local areas, dropped one after a p***ing contest, with a gal who kept posting ever thing the military base did, she couldn't accept that posting every movement was too much.

The one that I am member of, still bothers me, the post are mostly "All Quiet", which is a plus, but then there is a good poster, who tells what is happening on the streets of New York City and I have not decided if what he posts is of use to a terrorist or not.

If I were driving the roads, then I would like to know where the problems are located.

If I were a terrorist, then I also would like to know where the cops were to be found.

Is there ever a perfect answer in this world?
