[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Oh my. It's probably a tragic accident- hope it wasn't some form of sabotage!
I'm optimistic that our people will be able to piece together what the divers were attempting to do.

Some of it seemed legitimate, but the further you read the worse it gets...An example:
"The Zionist/Masonic/Illuminati/satanic shadow-government finally has the upper hand to destroy any and all resistance, here and abroad. The United States, as a free and sovereign nation, is finished. " quote from website
To: knak
Where in NY did the tanker come from? NYC? Or somewhere up the Hudson????
To: StillProud2BeFree
blowing it up at sea would make little sense as a terrorist attack, had it been blown at either port, it would have had a big impact.

I just put ethanol into google news search and this came up. Strange timing to say the least.
Brazilian Ethanol Making Waves - Expert warns of U.S. troubles
An expert at the National Ethanol Conference in Miami Beach warned the U.S. would be wise to seek import protectionist policies after the recent announcement that Brazilian exports of ethanol are predicted to grow to 4.4 billion liters by the year 2013. Brazil exports about 650 million liters of ethanol, but a leading Brazilian ethanol market analyst said that number could significantly grow during the next 10 years.

Wait - my husband just caught the breaking news. Case of the tanker has been solved. (Warning - humor break - please dont' be offended.)
In a statement just released at the local oasis, Terrorist spokeman Ethanol Bin Drinkin has claimed responsibility for the tanker explosion on behalf of the group Jihad Daniels. The group is believed to have Al Qaeda and Ba Cardi connections. Bin Drinkin claims it was a work related accident, otherwise known as an operational hiccup, as they were continuing New Years Celebrations. He further explained "They just got tanked tonight."
OK anyone want me to thwap my hubby good for this?
To: StillProud2BeFree

Maybe the timing failed.

I was searching to find where in New York the tanker had been. Didn't find anything in that regard. But, from the CNN article there was this tidbit:
The Singapore-flagged vessel was in transit from New York to Houston with 24 Filipino and three Greek crew members.CNN ArticleProbably just an accident.

Yes, perhaps it wasn't supposed to blow until it got to Houston.
To: StillProud2BeFree
Is it blocking the Chesapeake or impeding the shipping lanes?

(AMDG... the Mississippi delta incident gives an interesting perspective on this)
To: Domestic Church
The reports said it was 50 miles offshore so I doubt it will tie up any other shipping.
To: Domestic Church
It would be further out to sea.
