February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Your son is sharp.

Of course they can launch from a ship, remember flight 800?

I don't know about the scorched earth, but keep in mind that it does not need to be exact to give the idea to us of what they are using as a scare tactic of the day.

Your 'cave of darkness' and the promise to cut our troops communication off from us.

How did they foul up the servers that were messed up this past week?

I was waiting for news of it, as my Yahoo email accounts would barely work for the past week.

Some place I read about trouble in Denver, that affected the servers, way over my head, so I don't know what I read now, but Yahoo is much better.

Gunmen Threatens to Kill Hostages, Four Police Wounded in Shootout
The Associated Press
Published: Feb 27, 2004

ASSIUT, Egypt (AP) - A clan leader who is holding scores of hostages southern Egyptian town threatened Friday to kill them if police attempt a resuce.
Izzat Mohammed Hamid said his band of about 50 men held hundreds of hostages, but police put the figure at closer to 80.

The band seized the hostages during a shootout Friday with authorities who had been trying to arrest fugitives wanted for drug trafficking and other crimes. Police said four police were wounded.

Hamid said his hostages included women, children and several Coptic Christians. He warned police not to try to end the siege by force.

"If we die, then they will die with us," Hamid said of the hostages in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

Some 3,000 police officers and 100 armored vehicles were sent to Nakhilah, about 200 miles south of Cairo. The town has long been considered a center for illicit trade in arms and drugs.

Allah is the greatest the death brigades The death brigades are coming O America

Google search on death brigade = You will see cars of death, al-Qaeda group warns allies - www.smh. ...

'The cars of death will not stop'

Feb 26, 2004 The following is an edited version of a statement purportedly from a unit of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network, Abu Hafz al-Masri Brigades. It appeared today on an Islamist website, al-Mujahidoun, and was translated from the Arabic by Reuters

Friday November 21, 2003

Statement from the Jihad al-Qaida "Operation Islamic Iron Hammer".

We mentioned and we promised in our earlier statement: "As for the tails of America - especially Britain, Italy, Australia and Japan - who did not understand what was said by mojahedin leader Sheikh Osama bin Laden before Ramadan when he threatened that martyrdom operations would not stop inside and outside America ... And if they do not understand words then the cars of death will make them understand".

And we said: "The cars of death will not stop ... until Washington concedes to the conditions of the mojahedin [Islamist fighters] ... and here now are the cars of death reaping the [souls of the] allies of the tyrant of the era every day ... and by the will of God, America will soon look for someone to protect it from the mohahedin on its soil.

In Turkey today, the vanguards of the Abu Hafz al-Masri Brigades targeted the British consul, Roger Short, because of his extensive experience in combatting Islam and because he is considered the mastermind of British policy in the region comprising Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran.

Our cars of death struck the consulate building ... and by the grace of God, he was killed.

As for the British bank headquarters, this is a bastion of the British economy and let Britain and its people know that its alliance with America will not bring it prosperity or security

We admit that the cars of death that targeted the British bank were put in an inappropriate place, which caused some casualties among innocents, and this pains us tremendously, but the media must share our blame because we have repeatedly warned Muslims not to go anywhere near the diplomatic, economic or military headquarters of America and its allies; for our real war, which will begin soon, will have no boundaries and will show no mercy towards the tyrant of the era and his allies.

As for you Turkey, isn't it time you left the Crusader army and returned to the Islamic nation? Isn't it time you withdrew your army from Afghanistan; stopped all ties with the Zionists entity; stopped providing American with soldiers for Iraq; left the Crusader Atlantic alliance? We consider the government of Turkey as a first-class agent for America and therefore it must choose - peace or America.

O Bush, what have you done to America and its allies ... where is the security you promised them, where is the developed Afghanistan, where is the free, secure Iraq?

By God Bush, you've fallen into a trap as we planned for you. You're engaged in a war with people who love death as much as you love life. So prepare yourself for what is coming.

Listen to us, you criminal, the cars of death will not stop until you concede to our demands and they include:

1. That they free our prisoners in American prisons, especially the prisoners of Guantanamo and the mojahed Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman and those in the jails of the Arab, western, Persian and Jewish tails of America.

2. That they stop their war against Islam and Muslims around the world in the name of fighting terrorism.

3. To purify all Islamic land from the filth of the Jews and Americans, including Jerusalem and Kashmir.

4. For America to stop interfering between us and the tyrannical governments which rule Muslims and for us to set up an Islamic caliphate [state].

O Islamic nation, you must support the mojahedin to victory ... God is Greatest, Islam is on the way.

Abu Hafz al-Masri Brigades.

From the last paragraph in post 926, I did a Google search for:

Its not a date its a time line between 2 points in time

The links came back, with the thought of the Sun, Space, and Pipelines.....I looked at 16 pages to get a feel for what it might mean.

It maybe that this statement is common in the space world.

Read the first paragraph here, and remember a month or so ago, when the word was out to watch for arabs with Almanacs, well this explains how to use it and it matches the above search.

I still believe all POW's at GITMO should have tracking devices implanted. Removal at time of release (or so they think). If any escape plan was derived, we could still track them down and do what needed to be done, or better yet, have them lead us to others.

I've seen the Statue of Liberty from a cruise ship. Just wondering how close people with small boats can get to the island. It should be closed to all boats except authorized, otherwise anyone could do anything there. Does anyone know about this?

How about we build cages for the prisoners and set them in the middle of a mine field, they could go and come by chopper, but no one could reach them...........

Rather like the President who died yesterday in the plane crash, they still haven't reached the plane, as it landed in the middle of land mines.

Tried all my life to be a lady, but every so often my "Indian" blood goes on the warpath and I am glad that I don't have to decide how to deal with evil people, I wouldn't be ladylike, of that I am sure.

I try hard to be a peaceful calm helpful person, but these people:

By God Bush, you've fallen into a trap as we planned for you. You're engaged in a war with people who love death as much as you love life. So prepare yourself for what is coming.

push me to the limit with their cult of death worship. I pray our alphabets have them in hair trigger proximity and that their prayers for martrydom are answered, with their deaths courtesy of the red, white and blue, before they do anyone but themselves harm.

Bingo, another island.

So many to choose from. This one, however, symbolizes so much to so many. It could be symbolic to them as well. I hope it is well protected. It was awesome to go by it (same as touring the SS Missouri). So much American history with both.

AP: U.S. Increasing Military in Africa

Friday February 27, 2004 7:31 PM

By ALEXANDRA ZAVIS

Associated Press Writer

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) - The United States is scaling up its military presence in Africa as concern mounts over terrorist threats - both immediate and future - on the continent, the deputy head of American forces in Europe said Friday.

``The threat is not weakening, it is growing,'' Air Force Gen. Charles Wald said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from Luanda, Angola. ``We can't just sit back and let it grow.''

The focus on Africa is part of major restructuring as U.S. forces in Europe reposition for the war against terror.

The European Command oversees U.S. military activities in Africa excluding the Horn, site of a U.S. counterterrorism effort for northeast Africa and Yemen.

Africa is a growing strategic interest to the United States because of its terror links and its oil, which is seen as a possible alternative to Middle East fuel.

European Command is not looking to station large concentrations of troops on the continent, Wald said. But it intends to make its presence felt through joint exercises, training initiatives and other exchanges.

U.S. forces have also negotiated access to a number of sites, including air strips in Angola and Gabon, that can be used for stopovers, refueling, or to position troops and equipment.

Wald said this will allow U.S. forces to respond with light, mobile troops - whether for peacekeeping, crisis response or a specific terrorist threat.

``We're actually going to get more capability with less force because of our ability to move around fast,'' he said.

Key to the effort is supporting the development of regional security groups, improving the capabilities of African police and soldiers, and building relationships with governments and militaries, Wald said.

Wald is one of at least three top U.S. commanders to touch down in Africa in the past two weeks, following the U.S. commander in Europe, Marine Gen. James L. Jones. And Wald said he expects to be back about every three months.

Wald's trip includes stops in regional military powers Nigeria and South Africa; oil-rich Angola, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe; and Algeria and Niger, whose vast desert expanses are seen as a potential haven for terrorists.

At the same time, U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Kohler, the European Command's point man on planning for force reconfiguration, has been visiting the Saharan nations of Mauritania, Mali and Niger.

The three generals are leaders in proposals awaiting a decision in Washington to shift from Cold War-era troop buildups in Western Europe to smaller concentrations closer to the world's trouble spots.

``We are going to do business differently,'' Wald said. ``Waiting for a crisis to occur just isn't the way to do business any more.''

The general said there were specific terrorist threats in Africa at the moment, which he declined to characterize. But the United States is also convinced there will be more threats in the future.

``Nothing is really immune, particularly areas that traditionally have weak government or an inability to control their territory,'' Wald said.

The al-Qaida terror network has already staged deadly attacks in East Africa, bombing U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, and a Kenyan hotel in 2002.

Western military and security officials also worry about possible terrorist activity along ancient Sahara trading routes linking Arab and African nations.

They suspect terror groups have already set up training camps in the remote deserts of Mali and Niger.

Of particular concern is the Algeria-based Salafist Group for Call and Combat, which allegedly has ties to al-Qaida. The group was blamed in the kidnapping of 32 European tourists in the Sahara last year.

The United States is helping train and equip four Sahara nations - Mali, Niger, Mauritania and Chad - to better guard their porous borders against terrorists, arms and other trafficking.

There are also agreements to conduct exercises and training in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, Wald said.

Further south, the United States wants to protect oil supplies in the Gulf of Guinea, where it gets 15 percent of its oil.

There is also concern that Africa's major humanitarian crises could develop into security threats for the United States and Europe.

Wald singled out AIDS, which is cutting a swath through many of the continent's armies. The European command supports a pioneering treatment program run by South African military health services.

Africa, with its grinding poverty, spiraling conflicts and disenchanted youth, is also a recruiting ground for terrorists, Wald said.

``Africa, we all know, has to work itself out of this situation, which is going to take time,'' he said. ``In the meantime, we have to respond to some specific threats.''
