February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, second-in-command in the Al-Qa'ida Organization, has launched a scathing attack on US President George Bush, accusing him of engaging in deception and spreading what he described as subjugation and fear in the region and installing corrupt rulers.
In an audio tape, a copy of which Al-Jazirah has obtained, Al-Zawahiri ridiculed what he called US claims about promoting freedom and security in the world. Al-Zawahiri denied that the US troops eliminated two thirds of the Al-Qa'ida Organization. He also strongly attacked former Iraqi President Saddam Husayn without mentioning him by name, saying that Iraq moved from the tyrannical control of a secularist despotic anti-Islam ruler to an occupation that fights Islam. Al-Zawahiri also threatened the United States with fresh attacks at the hands of the death brigades, as he put it.
At the beginning of his audio recording, Al-Zawahiri noted the State of the Union Address Bush delivered last month. It is worth noting that the US President delivers the State of the Union Address on 20 January every year, which shows that the tape was recorded after this date.

After greetings, Bush has delivered his State of the Union Address before the Congress. He filled this address with lies and deception. The fourth claim is that the situation in Afghanistan is stable.
The first thing that we would like to recall is that his troops are not spreading freedom and security, but rather spreading subjugation and fear, installing corrupt rulers, protecting them, teaching them how to bite their peoples' flesh, and ensuring that the rule is bequeathed to their descendants so that the descendants of tyrants may inherit their fathers' dynasties. A quick look at the Muslim world from Morocco to Indonesia shows the kind of rulers backed by the United States -- the rulers whose efforts in its war against Islam, which it calls the war on terror, it is blessing.

The third thing which we would like to remind Bush is that he did not destroy two thirds of Al-Qa'ida. On the contrary, Al-Qa'ida -- thanks to God -- is still in the field of jihad, raising the banner of Islam confronting the Zionist-Crusade campaign against its Islamic nation.
Bush, fortify your positions and defenses and tighten your security measures, for the mujahid Muslim nation, which had sent you the brigade [Sarriyah] of New York and Washington, has made up its mind to send you brigades one after the other, carrying death and seeking paradise.
The fourth thing we would like to remind Bush is that the situation in Afghanistan is not settled. Or else, from where do we launch -- with God's help and strength -- the attacks on your forces and agents, the highway robbers and traitors? From where do we send you our messages, defying you and exposing your lies and fabrications? Ayman al-Zawahiri, second-in-command in Al-Qa'ida Organization, has criticized the French Government's decision to ban the wearing of the hijab [Muslim women's headdress] at government schools.
In an audio recording obtained by Al-Arabiyah, he said that the decision is part of a campaign targeted against Muslims and the only response to it is bombings.
[Begin Al-Zawahiri recording] In the name of God, praise be to God, and may peace and blessings be upon the prophet, his household, companions, and loyalists. O Muslim brothers everywhere, may God's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
The latest decision by the French president to create a law preventing Muslim girls from covering their heads at schools is an additional indication of the extent of the Crusaders' rancor harbored by Westerners toward Muslims. This is despite their bragging about freedom, democracy, and human rights. Even after their rebellion against the authority of the Church, their hearts and chests seethe with that rancor, which they bequeath to their coming generations.
The Zionist-Crusader West considers freedom sacred as long as it is its freedom to steal the wealth of others and plunder their resources. But when freedom becomes a means of resisting the West or choosing Islam as a way of life, jihad, and resistance, it becomes terrorism, narrow-mindedness, and fanaticism that should be dealt with by tank shells and aircraft missiles. Banning the hijab in France is consistent with the burning of villages along with their people in Afghanistan, demolishing houses over their sleeping residents in Palestine, and killing the children of Iraq and stealing its oil under false pretexts. It is consistent with the killing of Muslim prisoners in Qal'eh (?Panjeh) as they die from suffocation or thirst while on their way to the prison of (?Safaruhand). It is consistent with tormenting prisoners in the cages of Guantanamo and torturing Muslims in the prisons of our leaders, the friends of the United States. Dubai Al-Arabiyah Television in Arabic at 0900 GMT on 24 February carries a second rebroadcast of the audio recording by Ayman al-Zawahiri, second-in-command in Al-Qa'ida, on France's decision to ban the Islamic veil.
The rebroadcast includes an additional paragraph that was not included in the first broadcast of Al-Zawahiri's audio statement, filed as GMP20040224000040, or in the first rebroadcast, which included an additional paragraph that was filed as GMP20040224000045.
The new additional paragraph reads as follows:
"In a related development, Al-Zawahiri urged a confrontation with the United States in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. He also criticized the domestic peaceful attempts at change, saying that they conflict with the [Islamic] shari'ah, as he put it.
"[Begin Al-Zawahiri recording, in progress] regimes are the wolf's paws of the Zionist-Crusader West. Hence, dialogue with them through arguments, counterarguments, and peaceful action is useless. Besides, the attempts to change these regimes using their own laws and through their own parliaments is a violation of the shari'ah, because this requires recognizing the legality of these constitutions and laws, which God asks us to regard as blasphemous." I've seen similar problems within RACES in San Diego. Animal Rescue Reserve is also pretty clique oriented. ARES was more open. My wife was the liason officer between the San Diego Sheriff's Dept and RACES/ARES in San Diego. She set up the equipment in the emergency services vans. Obviously, someone else is doing that task since we relocated to Idaho.
