I'm sorry, but most terrorists, most criminals do not leave the tools of their trade simply lying around for anyone to peruse, if for no other reason than monetary.

And then there is the matter of who Al Qaeda is really working for. Supposedly headed by Osama bin Laden, a former CIA contract agent(and what is that old saying, once you're in the CIA, you never get out), it is funded by, among others, a large Saudi family with close ties to the Bushes(also "former" CIA). In fact the Bushes and bin Ladens have been in bed together for decades now, investing in each others business, doing deals together, being socially, businessly, and politically intimate to the point of appearing incestous at times. I mean really now, who was on that lone civilian plane allowed out of the US on 9/12/01? That's right, members of the bin Laden family.

And then there is the matter of Israeli intelligence setting up false front al Quaeda cells in order to provide an excuse to crack down on the Palestinians. "The Palestinian Authority arrested a group of collaborators who confessed they were working for Israel, posing as al-Qaeda operatives in the Palestinian territories," said the official, on condition of anonymity. He said the alleged collaborators sought to "discredit the Palestinian people, justify every Israeli crime and provide reasons to carry out a new (military) aggression in the Gaza Strip."

With the Tides Center for a partner, we will likely never know.

Hey folks, just popping in to say a hi - as we embark on St. Patrick's WEEK (A day is not enough! *L*)

I'm off to see The Passion of the Christ tonight with six of my friends. Was at Mass this morning, and the priest dedicated his whole sermon to the film - and TOLD everyone they must go and see it! (No ambiguity in his message, this morning!)

So being the dutiful (HA!) madame that I am, I'm off to the flicks!

Hi Sultan, just got back in from the movie.

I'm still trying to digest it all - some of the imagery (with the devils etc) was a bit odd for me, and I'd like to think about it a bit and try get a handle on what Gibson was trying to achieve before commenting on that.

Did I think this was a brilliant film? Um, no, probably not. Do I think it's an important piece of work? Yeah, most definitely.

The violence - while brutal - was appropriate in my mind, although it crossed my mind at one point, during the scourging that any other man would have bled to death. (I was actually surprised I could stomach the violence. I'm normally hiding behind my hands at the sign of a nose bleed.)

I thought the depiction of Mary, the mother of Jesus, was exceptionally well done. Indeed, it was moments where Mary featured mainly that left me with tears streaming down my face. I thought the actress who played Mary was absolutely outstanding - her expressions left me mesmerised.

Did I think this film was anti-semitic? No, not at all. Actually quite the opposite. As a Catholic I wasn't going into this film not knowing the story. I ALWAYS thought Caiaphas was a bastard - so Gibson portraying him as one, wasn't shocking to me. I did learn from this movie that some of the Head Pharisees objected to Caiaphas' when he arrested Jesus. (So that's hardly anti-semetic). And the number of Jewish women on the road to Calvary who pleaded with the Romans to stop the scourging, was also far from anti-semetic.

Indeed the only people who appeared vile to me in this were the Roman soldiers - and they 'did not know what they were doing', according to scripture.

Did I enjoy this film? No, not really, but I'm glad I saw it. It's difficult to watch.

Would I reccommend this film? Well, I don't think it's a movie that you can give *stars* to, it's something that a person has to see for themselves, and make up their own mind.

I would say it's hard to come away from this film feeling 'nothing', or apathetic.

It was an interesting night at the flicks.

That includes conducting diplomacy on such matters as trying to stop the North Koreans and Iranians from developing and proliferating nuclear weapons. We sure hope Mr. Kerry isn't giving either of these countries the idea that if they can merely stonewall for another few months, the Senator will then ride to their rescue."
