Thousands of Long Islanders turned out Saturday night to meet and greet conservative media star Sean Hannity, who spent the evening thanking his fans and signing copies of his just-released book, "Deliver Us From Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism and Liberalism."
Hannity's hometown bookstore, Huntington's "Book Revue," was already packed to the rafters when the Fox News Channel commentator arrived. He began by revving up the crowd with several well-aimed barbs at Hillary Clinton, who had appeared at the same venue last June for her own booksigning.
Referring to a passage from Sen. Clinton's book, Hannity wondered aloud, "Did she say she was gulping for air?"
Then, adopting a mock Hillary voice, he added, "I could hardy breathe. I found out Bill's been cheating again."
The hometown crowd erupted in laughter, prompting Hannity to continue in the same vein.
"You know my title, 'Deliver Us From Evil'? It really should have been, 'Deliver us from the Clintons.'"
Turning serious, Hannity talked about how the 9/11 attacks inspired the title of his book, reminding the crowd, "Everybody here knows somebody who was murdered on Sept. 11."
After noting the loss of a friend he went to school with locally, whose widow he sees every week in church, the conservative talker explained why he so strongly backs President Bush.
"After the terrorists attacked our friends in our neighborhood here in Huntington, Long Island, New York and New Jersey," he noted, "George Bush went after them with a vengeance.
"He sent a message to the world: If you attack this country, we are going to go after you in the fiercest way and we're going to rock your world. He confronted evil head-on."
After a few more minutes of remarks that covered both the personal and political, Hannity traveled to the store's second story balcony to begin signing books.
The event began at 6:00 pm. When we checked back five hours later, he was still signing.

One thing you can definitely say about Sean is that he is definitely pro-conservative and anti-liberal. That makes Sean a gold star in my book!!....

In spite of his conservative views (I thank him for that), I can imagine what his show is like now.
Long ago I quit listening to him because the one thing Hannity promotes above conservative ideals is himself. In one hour of his radio show a few weeks ago, he mentioned his book, his appearances, and how wonderful he was 33 times. No thanks, Sean. Now that his book is out, it must be unbearable.
I'll listen to Medved any day.

That is a normal broadcast day for Shawun. I agree with all you stated, and I too am glad I have a good local guy to listen to.

Thank you, Sean, for being one of the lone voices in the media where I can enjoy, laugh and learn instead of nonstop President Bush bashing. After awhile, they must start wondering how they can keep up the hate nonstop forever...it just exhausts me when I get angry about something and find usually it's not worth the stress.

BTW...Hannity did not grow up anywhere near Huntington, how could he have gone to school locally with anyone from there?

Funny you mention that. I like Sean a lot - he is a good sincere guy, a soldier in the cause.
But I would expect any book or his to do well. He has 3 hours of radio ad time a day, and 1 hour of tv time a day, to pitch himself and his book.
I too switched to Medved and it's like night and day - much better observations and thinking, without the shilling. Super show!

Sean Hannity has a book out? Who knew?

Congrats Sean.

Sean's shameless self-promotion does get to me, I'll admit. And his guests constantly talk over each other so you can't discern what any of them is saying. Hell, Sean even talks over his callers. It's like listening to the Tower of Babel. Surely he must know this is not a good experience for his listeners. And he could easily control it, but won't. What does it accomplish?
He may have the second-most listened to talk show, but his format sucks, IMHO.
Medved and/or Hewitt would be much preferred.

Congrats Sean doubled....bought the book, am reading it and loving it!! Sean's radio show is super, better than TV because COlMES is such a twit and comes out with the most stupid left garbage. He talks over the guests, and makes no sence at all most of the time. Sean lets him, and that is what is wrong with the TV show.

I have switched to the Dennis Miller TV show at night....not always the best, but at least a little easier to watch and listen to. Dennis is a good Bush man, and has interesting guests on most of the time and the monkey is a stitch!! Miller is on against the Hannity timeslot.

I didn't know any of the victims of the attacks but I do know FR lost at least two beloved Freepers that fateful day. RIP BKO and BCM.
